| News - Jimmy: More Songs, But No More Albums? |
This aint all bad peoples. Geez, if the Pumpkins are so close to your heart just be greatful they are still writing and putting out great music. Sure I love albums too, especially Pumpkins albums where each has their own feel and sound but they gotta try something different. If it goes to poo and no-one buys their music then maybe a new album will surface later. Let 'em try it. |

Homer: Oooooh look at me... I'm Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins.
Billy, D'arcy James: Errr, don't you mean the Red Hot Chili Peppers?
Jimmy: I don't care what this man says, he's doing something to me and I LIKE it! |

| Am i the only one a little disappointed? |
The Smashing Pumpkins haven't recorded under that name for 7 years. We all know the reasons why. Billy and Jimmy have now written an album for people living in 2007, not 1995. Sure their old material is great and truth be said, more heartfelt in a lot of places, but Billy is older, we are all older. The world has changed, and Billy's lyrics reflect that. He used to sing more about personal love and pain. But now there is such a global consciousness/awareness vibe out there in the world and he is tapping into that, being a bit more political. Several times it has been documented that there was never going to be another Smashing Pumpkins. I am sure there are plenty of fans that appreciate the 'reunion'. The new material is not as instantly powerful as some older stuff - but I've been watching YouTube and it all fits in very nicely on their set lists. Give it time. I think that if Jeff sticks around and contributes to the next album, Zeitgeist will be seen as the album that re-made the Pumpkins into a powerful force. The Pumpkins have had their 'heyday' - they dont need to impress anyone. Rock on BC and JC and keep putting out records that are different. Challenge the masses. Welcome Back! |

This song and the album 'TFE' is great. Billy has created a genre all of his own. I don't think he really cares if people who only ever liked MCIS like this album or not. His musical and lyrical talents go far beyond the scope of MCIS (as great an album as it is). IMO he is the most honest, heartfelt musician of recent times. Brutal then subtle then serious then hilarious - like life. I hope he keeps writing forever. For the record, I think CameraEye is the best song on TFE. Long live SP and BC/JC! |

Billy: Of course Jim, we are THE Smashing Pumpkins.
Jeff: What have I got myself into?... |
