Seems James isn't getting much credit...
James is by no means a bad guitarist. He still kicks major ass. He's much better than I am. Just, when put in a comparison this way, I would consider Billy better.

both members are uniquely gifted
billy plays tighter with his subconscious metronome at work
james is a loose player favoring the sound of humbuckers with
a large assortment of sound effects including an ebow
at times touching in the midst of Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
so yes I like the overall sound and role that james plays for the
pumpkins

Since when are rhythm players required to shred? They're rhythm players for a reason and since that's James' role in the band the majority of the time, I think he fulfills it entirely well. He's wonderful at what he does even if he's not some virtuosic player. He's said so himself, he's happy with what he can do and I think we should be too.  |

i didnt know he was left handed 
thats probly what he did, since you can use more guitars and stuff
yeah, I'm actually left-handed, but I play right handed as well. for some reason it's just more natural for me to use my stronger hand for fretting notes.

Yeah I'm a left-handed bass player but I play right handed. Especially for bass it makes sense to fret with your strongest hand. |

I think the only difference is that Billy can play with more speed. James' playing is certainly more centered around texture than just straight shredding and riffing. But if you look closely, James has been known to shred in the past. That Pug video that's up in the download section has a bit with him shredding some at the end. |

YEah...he didn't teach him. he guided his tastes by encouraging him to listen to Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. My father played and he didn't teach me but there's still alot you can learn by watching someone play since birth.
