The clarity and sheer focus of the songs on Gish is really amazing. Lots of Machina just seemed like continous warbles. The songs themselves are great, but I agree that the production is what ultimately makes them less than what they should be.

I prefer gish over machina personally
I dont really know what it is, I can't put a finger on it..but it might have something to do with the production...but not necessarily on all of the songs? i dont know haha

yeah, i prefer gish to machina.
hmmm maybe its that gish has kind of a more welcoming and warm feel to it (that sounded pretty corny) and machina has a plasticy feel to it. kind of like those girls who PILE on makeup- i would prefer to approach a girl with out/with little makeup on.

every album is fantastic. (not that you guys don't know that.) the beauty of the pumpkins is their diversity and how well they pull off so many different things. Gish has always been one of my favorites. in terms of "number of spins" that the CD's in my collection have gotten over the years, gish is probably in the lead.

I actually have found that SP is hard to hear on the highway. The roar of the highway driving drowns out a lot of SP's music. With the exception of Machina. I always have to turn pumpkins up really loud especially for SD with all the quiet parts mixed in with loud songs(IE silverfuck, soma).
It kind of sucks so I try not to listen to them much on the freeway but usually I do it anyway and turn it up way too loud.

i got really into Gish this summer. While the songwriting may not be of quite the same caliber as later material (stil freaking awesome though), the craft is all there. The solos are great, and Butch Vig's crystal clear production makes it easy to listen to each instrument individually (D'arcy's bass, in particular, comes through better on Gish than other albums  ). |

Gish is BY FAR the WORST piece of anything Billy Corgan and pals have put on the market, in my opinion. (respectivley...)
I like tracks 1,2,3, and the last one, that's it. As opposed to me LOVING every song off all the other albums except for Shame (from Adore), Real Love, Vanity, and Let Me Give The World To You (from MACHINA II)
