This is just it, what makes a song sad? Adore sound sad but it's one of the most positive albums when you read the lyrics. I give you that TCTOM sounds sad in tone but it has depths. Jellybelly rawks out but Billy sings about life making him so sick he wants to die.

Well I think it's kind of unfair to the Pumpkins to describe a whole album with a blanket term like "sadness." We all know that there are different types/degrees of sadness--it just depends on the particular type you're looking for.

Adore was written as Billy says, "about all the different permutations of love." I'm just that includes its happy and sad aspects. Love can be both a joyous thing and a wretched thing, and both sentiments can be conveyed both sonically and lyrically, which is what I think Billy tried to do and James and D'arcy tried to enhance.
With that sad, Tear seems to be a very sad song in both a sonic and lyrical sense.

Yes, I was just about to make that point. Adore as an album is meant to describe types of love, just so happens that love generally ends in pain.

I still don't get Adore linked with sadness. Most of the lyrics don't really fit in with sadness.
If i where to choose one, it would have to be I Fall (Studio). Now that is a sad song. Or i'd go with Crestfallen which is very haunting. Possibly even Jellybelly.
If you dont really listen to jellybelly, you would never know it seems sad

I was just about to say that, indeed! Thirty-three is a really sad song, but I mean really sad. It is obviously about love, but to me, it's really sad, I kinda pity Billy when I read those lyrics. It's even kinda pathetic.
