I had a thought last night while listening to "Untitled" off the greatest hits CD. that song flat out rocks. catchy as can be, and just plain rocks. now....that was the last thing that "the old SP" put out. Not sure if anybody remembers, but when they announced they were breaking up, it was on a radio show and they played that song as a farewell. so...now that they're getting back together in some form, I think that song will be an indication of the direction for the new band. I'm not saying the new album will sound just like that, but I think that song will prove to be a stepping stone to wherever they end up.

I always thought that It was more of a hint of where Billy's singwriting was going, and thats why It sounds a lot more like the music Zwan played. But Billy did say he was going to go back to the bands roots, which Untitled also hinted at.

eh. I didn't really love Untitled. I agree that it sounded a lot more like a Zwan song then a SP song. I don't think the new album will be in that direction.

Untitled is great! It's meant to be a farewell song, and I think that's why it sounds so happy. That doesn't necessarily mean that it sounded like Zwan, because I don't think so. To me, that was just them deciding to do things the best way and just go "Classic Pumpkins" on their last recording. In doing so they created a perfectly good song that's solid in every respect. I mean, SIYL was done in the "Classic Pumpkins" way and look how great that turned out.

well when they said they were getting back together, billy said they were gonna start back right where they left off, but i don't know what that means. you know how they are, every time they do something new it sounds different from the last time, so honestly there's no way to know. I mean, Billy said TFE was a rock album. it was, but that just shows you how loose the term can be used. So for this new album, although it's said to be a rock album, it might turn out being folk rock for all we know! Either way, it's gonna be good

I thought Untitled was alright, but I wouldn't say it rocked.

I'd be disappointed if the new album was along those lines, but I really doubt it will be.

Whatever it is, I predict it to be 1,979,000 better than the shit out now

Untitled seems a bit poppy to me to be the new direction of SP. Too Zwanish. I liked Zwan, but it certainly isn't the direction that SP should take if it wants to make a huge rawkin comeback.

I don't think untitled sounds like zwan at all. I hated the zwan stuff. untitled reminds me more of gish, which would be an awesome turn back for this band if they went that direction. just as long as it's not electro-pop blah stuff I'll be happy with it.

Untitled is cool it has great energy but I'm sure Billy can't stay that positive for a whole album.

the new direction cant be based on one song, a single. with the guitar symphony, i think it will be just like the old days, hopefully billy learned that guitar symphonies can be distorted too
