I agree that there should have been an earphoria two or something, but earphoria was nothing short of spectacular

billy just gets too worked up in some of those live versions.

Thats 50% of why i love the pumpkins so much

i meant the live disarms- i think he kind of ruins the song by yelling and screaming. i prefer the song to be sung softer- but thats just my preference.

I love that live version of the heavy disarm. It puts a more angsty spin on the song and I think it fits well.

The softer version has a much more reflective feel.

If I had to choose I'd of course go with the SD version but the heavy version is great too.

I'm glad someone posted this because I was actually thinking about this the other day, I think all the openers were choses correctly for each album except for Siamese Dream, I think that it should have been Quiet but I also think that they should have changed the start of Quiet to the version thats on Earphoria, with lost of bends and tremellos at the start then break into it, but it's still great to me and my favourite album.

The best opener would have to be Mellon Collie no doubt though, mabey more because I like classical stuff and the strings sound beautiful in it.

Talking about versions of Disarm my favorite is the one from the 3 Feet High bootleg that they played in Chicago in 93, Billy plays his strat clean while james does the little overs with his les paul but the best part is you can actually hear how big the crowd is because the're singing every word along with him sounds great, my favorite version. It's avaliable here on rspaa if anyone wants

"Violet" by Hole.

Oh wait, what? Sorry!

I was torn in between MCIS, Cherub Rock, and The Everlasting Gaze. From a purely functional perspective, I think Cherub Rock works the best. But as songs, I like MCIS and The Everlasting Gaze better. I decided on MCIS. Just imagine sitting in a theater with red curtains, and right before they open and you see a play about starry night skies, moons and aeroplanes put on by a bunch of furry animals, you listen with quiet wonder to this peaceful piano introduction.

Wow - with the visual help you just gave I want to change my answer...kinda.

I was stuck between the same 3 and chose T.E.G. just because the band had taken a more stripped down approach to Adore and I felt with Jimmy back T.E.G. was their war cry - They were returning with a bang! "You know I'm not dead"

Its really hard to say. I picked "I Am One" probably just because it was one of my favorite songs, and it is a great lead of track. But I think I could go with "Cherub Rock", "To Sheila", "MCIS" or "The Everlasting Gaze" just as easily.

Hands down MCIS, its so beautiful, with the piano and the strings layering and it sets the perfect tone, and then it comes back in different variations throughout the album...

or maybe I'm just biased because I can play it on piano

cherub rock

mcis is a great opener

but cherub rock has one of the best intros to a song, making it an even better intro to an entire cd

they're all pretty good openers though

MCIS for me.

I always thought Cherub Rock was one of the weakest songs from SD. Actually, it's a song I never really feel like listening to... but if I happen to put it on I enjoy it. It's weird.

I also really like To Shiela and Lucky 13 as openers. EG too for that matter.
