Ok - I'm DEFINITELY late to this one but I was just watching some of SP's videos and realized that the same kids from the 1979 video are in the Perfect video. Just to be positive - I checked and sure enough I'm a RETARD...

To expand on the similarities between "Perfect" and "1979", the band released a music video which continued the story of the characters in "1979". They were able to find and use 4 out of the 5 original actors from the 1979 video, including Giuseppe Andrews. The fifth was in jail. The same crew of directors was hired, which consited of husband Jonathan Dayton and wife Valerie Faris.

Yeah, perfect is meant to be a sequel to 1979, if you have the Greatesthits DVD (essential) then listen to the alt. audio on pefect.

Yeah, Billy and James explain it pretty well. Ther said that they could have executed it a whole lot better because it wasn't apparent at first that it was a "sequel".

I'm late getting into this, but yeah, the Perfect video was designed to be a sequel to 1979 and used mostly the same kids, etc - as everyone has already mentioned :-)

PS - that is my favorite James role in a video - the clerk at the local "stop-n-rob" as we call them here.

Anyone else notice that in 1979 James' name is Larry but in Perfect his name-tag says "Burt"? Maybe I'm crazy but I'm pretty sure ...

lol i just had a visual flashback to placebo in highschool, with my ex and his mic in his beanie and hoodie going "shhhhooosh!!!" whenever id scream something at him hahahaha and u listen to the bootleg and you can hear me ruining it hahahahaha

it was so funny he was sweating like a mother fucker the whole way through and the quality was shit in the end (partly due to me)
