Define the term 'punk' band. Everyone knows punk died before the mid 80's.
If you're into any of these:
Ramones
The Sex Pistols
The Damned
The Saints
Buzzcocks
The Misfits
Crass
Stiff Little Fingers
Black Flag
Or any other mid 70's early 80's punk bands than i respect you.
If you dare even class any of these:
Green Day
The Offspring
Rancid
Blink 182
Simple Plan
Less Than Jake
Good Charlotte
Sum 41
Son Of Dork
as punk, then i will seriously slap you. Damn pop bands dont even deserve being a sub-genre.
The true bastard son of Punk is Industrial.
Ramones - I like them, but surely they were the first pop-punk band.
The Sex Pistols - They're ok. Not so much punk as a marketing tool.
The Damned - Don't like them and always considered them rock.
The Saints - Meh.
Buzzcocks - Yes, I like them.
The Misfits - Meh.
Crass - Don't know them.
Stiff Little Fingers - They're ok.
Black Flag - Have their moments.
You blatantly missed the best punk band from that era - The Dead Kennedys.
Green Day - Love them, but they're more rock than punk.
The Offspring - Quite like them, but not punk.
Rancid - Street punk, ska. Lara Frederikson's solo stuff is true street punk.
Blink 182 - How are they in your punk list??
Simple Plan - How are they in your punk list??
Less Than Jake - How are they in your punk list??
Good Charlotte - How are they in your punk list??
Sum 41 - How are they in your punk list??
Son Of Dork - How are they in your punk list??
Ok, I know this was technically your 'unpunk' list, but still... you may as well have listed Britney Spears if you're listing most of those.
Going off the bands you listed, if any of us, it's you who needs help defining the term 'punk band'!
For more modern bands I like:
The Unseen
Early Anti-Flag
Bombshell Rocks
The stuff Jello Biafra still does (most recently with the Melvins)
Dropkick Murphys
Street Dogs
86'd
Operation Ivy
Etc etc
And then I do like some of the new wave/pop punk such as:
The Vandals
NOFX
Pulley
The Phoenix Foundation
Ducky Boys
The Briggs
Etc etc
I'm sure you'll argue that some of those (particularly in the 2nd list) aren't punk. But I'd say they're more punk than most of the bands you listed even in your 1st list - if the Ramones and The Misfits had just started a few years ago, they'd be slated as punk wannabes too.
