i was listening as i am now to the radio when i jus heard a minute ago..eric avery will take james iha's place as lead guitarist...keep in mind i just heard this and radio stations have made mistakes..im sure something official will be realeased soon..LOL

first of all, the rumor was that he was taking the bass position...he plays bass for jane's addiction, along with some other projects

also, it's not a reliable source

Yesterday DC101 only said that the Smashing Pumpkins were finalizing their line-up and more information would be announced shortly.
So, I still wait for something official from Billy's mouth (but, Eric Avery would be a welcome addition)

its all rumors right now but will we all see soon what billy is adding to the lineup!

you know what would be cool, is instead of just releasing a blog on his website, they'd like pop up somewhere like SNL or Conan and it would be a total surprise and play something

well, www.mtv.com did have this blurb in its June 6 news:

Ever since Billy Corgan announced last summer that he was resurrecting the Smashing Pumpkins, fans have been wondering just who will be joining the revival. So far, we know Corgan's longtime right-hand man, sinewy drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, is on board. But could Eric Avery, the erstwhile bassist for Jane's Addiction, be interested in the slot left vacant by Melissa Auf Der Maur and original bassist D'Arcy Wretzky before her? Perhaps. According to a spokesperson for the Pumpkins' management, Avery "has been rehearsing with [the band] in their pre-production of the new record, but nothing [has been] confirmed in regards to [Avery joining the Pumpkins]."

Cool, it is nice to know that other people are actually discusing this. Its good to hear any news at all. I think that eric would be great!!!. But it would be realy cool to have old jamsey back.

It makes me brain hurt too. Its almost like Billy is doing it on purpose just to get us excited and thinking.
I check my email everyday hoping there will be some sort of new news from SP's mailing list. I'm very impatient though!
