Thanks for gathering all that info. It's a damn exciting time to be a pumpkins fan. I perused the netphoria forums just a few minutes ago to see if there was any other info than what has been given. What was there was pretty well covered. It was a painful experience. Seems like only 2 or 3 people on those boards are actually fans of . Oh, and this is my first post on ThePumpkins.com forums, so hi everybody, you seem like a great crowd.

Well, we here actually like the Smashing Pumpkins, unlike Netphoria people who spends more time bagging on BC then anything else. Some things I just don't understand, and Netphoria is one of them.
As for the lineup of SP: Well in the past Jimmy has been replaced, D'Arcy has been replaced, so I guess it would only make since for James to be replaced. I agree that it wouldn't seem like SP without 3 of the 4 original members and it would be strange without James.
As for the new album being political, well I hope it is very subtle as well. I don't like a lot of politically strong music (I don't like Rage Against The Machine for that reason). So hopefully it won't be too bad...

I wouldn't worry about BC writing politcal lyrics like Rage. Billy is never that direct. Mina Loy is about terrorism but most people wouldn't guess it from listening to it.


Anyway. I'm just as excited as ever!

so i'm in a pickle.

i'm gonna post a blog from the sp myspace about the meet up but "i" can not officially print what the album sounds like...cos then it's a statement...so what i need is for fans who were there to spread the word. this sounds planned but i swear it isn't. in fact, it makes things more difficult for me. either post comments or direct fans to netphoria or wherever you posted. i don't care...just spread the word. i feel bad cos' i wanna spill the beans!!
anyhow, this post is friends only so post comments to the SP one re. the tunez.

the only thing i ask is - leave off any info. re. possible shows because nothing is confirmed...

...but i do think it doesn't hurt to say, they will be playing european festivals this summer.

what else....LOS ANGELES meet up is next.
sometime in january. if these meet ups work well and we can turn them into communities of fans in different cities (either online or in person) then the band is willing to send me around to hang out with you guys....so LA come out and represent!!!!! i really wanna make this community work! i know the UK fans are already talking about a SP UK fans MySpace page. anyone in another city who can do something similar that gets a lot of activity let me know and i'll hit you up!!!

we're also going to start something called SP TV soon...
i'll need fans for that too.

Hello Everyone!

How is it out in your neck of the woods? (For those of you I haven't met, I'm the Pumpkin Queen...resident editrix for the online SP community.

I just got back from beautiful London where we had a SP fan meet up and discussed some things about the new album and other goods in Pumpkinland. I have a feeling that the 40+ fans who were there will oblige me and comment about what we mentioned re. the album.

As far as shows......I think it's safe to say you can plan on seeing the Pumpkins at some European festivals this summer. As for which ones, that's still being finalized so hold tight!

At the meet up, a lot of the fans mentioned wanting to make a UK SP fan community on MySpace to organize future meet ups, listening parties etc.....if you'd like to do one for your region let me know. The band is talking about creating special merch for the groups as well as possible meet and greets etc. when they come through your city. I'll come out to do some meet ups with exlcusive info. from the band before touring starts. If you start a page, just let me know and I'll put in the top 20 here....and I believe BC plans on naming each individual group.

In the meantime, re. art - feel free to submit t-shirt designs....as that is the newest bit of art we're keeping an eye out for.

And as for the next meet up,

OH! and those "Baker Demo" leaks...well, we read it was a Brit band who was behind that. Don't worry Simon, no one's gonna sue you. The band got a kick out of the story....

sounds more like Machina or TFE than SD or MCIS

For all we know they're putting in a bit of everything.

We can only hope. Except I want the electronic elements, if any to be more fluid than TheFutureEmbrace was at times. Good thing is that Jimmy is drumming .

If he decides to incorporate electronic drum things like he did starting on MCIS that'll be really interesting.

I thought Siamese Dream and Gish were better examples of shoegazing style music than Machina or TFE. We'll all hear it anyway when the time comes, and I liked Machina and TFE, so I'm not too worried. I'm just hoping it's not a repetitious album, 'cause I don't wanna buy and album I've already heard.
