What do you think the title of this song means?

There are some odd Smashing Pumpkins titles, like Rhinoceros or Mayonaise, but Billy says that those titles refer to obscure references, so we usually don't think much about them. But when Billy strings together an entire sentence for a song title, it makes you wonder what he was trying to say, especially one as strange as "Here's To The Atom Bomb". Is it some sort of misanthropic statement? A sarcastic statement? Maybe it means nothing?

I've always been curious about it.

I have no idea what the title may mean. Maybe Billy just thought ti sounded cool! I really like that song though!

Hrm. . it's never good to guess what Billy means by anything. . but. . based on the lyrics and the alt version lyrics. . it almost seems like some kind of hope in a wierd ironic way. . as if he is saying "you can destroy or hurt me in all these ways, but I will survive or escape"

james is not japanese is he?on the vieuphoria live dvd when they did slunk in 1992 he was asked if he was japanese he said no as far as i remember....[i could be wrong]

he said he's 3rd generation japanese (i'm pretty sure, or it may be 2nd)

Just for the record, yes, James Iha is Japanese.

james stayed on for 7 years he even was on the gh untitled shoot in chicago.i believe the band broke up because billy being demanding plus their records stopped selling like they used to,and james wanted to join a perfect circle,but again thats only my guess

that is 7 years after slunk,total time maybe 11 years 89 to 2000,actually james was the first pumpkin after billy then d'arcy then they got a drummer from word of mouth we know him as jimmy chamberlin..

Well, the atom bomb was what ended world war 2 and made the U.S the enourmous economic powerhouse that it is today, maybe it is billy's strange way of recognising the way the U.S used ww2 to climb to the top of the world.
