Gish is named after silent movie actress Lillian Gish. In an interview with Billy Corgan he once said "My grandmother used to tell me that one of the biggest things that ever happened was when Lillian Gish rode through town on a train, my grandmother lived in the middle of nowhere, so that was a big deal."

i always think of fish when i hear the name gish weird for the longest time i thought gish was a new breed of fish till i seek out the true meaning.

Gish also has a fair few slang terms aswell, one that seems to come to mind is it being used for people you have foot sex.
