We all knew this was probably the case, but it's still a big blow, I think. To me it was, anyways. In the end, it won't matter too much as far as the music goes- he was great for the sound of the Pumpkins, but they can go on without him. I think this makes me really hope even more that Melissa is in the band... but I'm thinking she isn't.
I don't think this news means that Billy hasn't tried to talk to James, but it looks like that could be the case. I'd be disappointed if Billy didn't make an attempt to talk to him, but I just have to put my trust in him that he knows what he is doing.

We'll miss you, James, even though you aren't a friend of Billy's.

I'm glad he decided to do another solo album, because we all know the last one was huge success.

I feel really sorry for james right now. looking at his photograph on the rollingstone site, makes me really sad. I kind of get the strange idea that he misses billy (and that billy misses him), even though that might not be true at all, who knows...

anyway, you're right about the fact that we don't know what the pumpkins without james will be like. but we do now what the pumpkins WITH JIMMY sound like (compared to what they sound like WITHOUT him) and I must say that simply the collaboration between billy and jimmy comforts me, it's better than no reunion at all. ( lousy peptalk, I know)

Get over yourself...Billy doesn't need to contact James for the fans. Yeah sure, he should out of respect for James, and the band...but I'm sure a lot went on that we don't know about...

Most likely James didn't wanna be in the band (which suppposedy was the case in the past), in which case you should respect both James' desicion, and Billy's for wanting to reform the band.

Oh, and also, quoting netphoria? What's the point? I'm sure most people who read this read there as well...

though some post on both, and a lot check netphoria occasionally for news and whatnot, a good portion of the members come here as an alternative to netphoria because they really don't like netphoria

This is a drag... Why has there been so much suspense and build up around who's in the band for it to be revealed (well partly) in an article from Rolling Stone? Fingers crossed for to be in the new SP... But I don't think we can judge until we've heard the new material or at the very least know the actual lineup.

Why wouldn't Melissa be in it if James isn't? Do you mean D'arcy, cause that would make sense? Melissa has already saids that sbe would love to be in the band again if Billy lets her.

Well that kind of sucks. I kind of liked James.
