He was going on about how D'arcy is probably the strongest and James the most sensitive, then James buds in with "No, I'm not." At that point, Billy just stops talking, glances over at James with an awkward amusement, while James just keeps his head down with no follow-up.

thats so cute!

I wish the guy would talk more. We don't know too much about him.

One of the most awkward James moments was in a Pumpkins interview at MuchMusic back in '98 when they were promoting Adore. It was about a 1 or 2 hour special called "Intimate and Interactive" and it was shown live. As usual, it was Billy talking the most, but every so often, James would come in and say the most random things and the whole place would go silent for a few seconds. I remember something where Billy was talking about the importance of D'arcy and James to the band. He was going on about how D'arcy is probably the strongest and James the most sensitive, then James buds in with "No, I'm not." At that point, Billy just stops talking, glances over at James with an awkward amusement, while James just keeps his head down with no follow-up. The interview is filled with moments like these. In replays, they had to cut out a lot of these instances.

Haha, I'd imagine if I ever get into a band that takes off and the band gets interviewed, I'd probably be the one providing all the awkward silences and responses.

So what do we really know about James? What's he up to these days? Is he married with children? What are his favourite bands and albums? I'm curious if anyone knows.

U know...the whole band hated those interviews. They said that most of the questions they got were lame. Lots of times they would give fake answers or D'arcy would even give attitude to interviewers. I guess James just decided to not even participate.

I've got a feeling James will return to the Smashing Pumpkins, eventually. I mean, Jimmy was kicked off the band, and Billy said he could never, never come back. But he did!

And imagine down the line...a Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour! I'd definitely buy tickets to that. Although chances are I can't afford them :P

I'd also like to publicly show my appreciation for James...
James, I'm sorry I never paid much attention to you before, but we all miss you. And I bought Let It Come Down at the CD store the other day, cash!
