yeah they will rock! we know this because nobody knows the lineup, we havent heard any material yet and billy corgans projects have been getting better and better over the years! YEAH!

YEAH!!!

///Main Course:
While you're both being sarcastic, the exact stated is how I feel about Corgan's material. I think he DID get better as he got older. TFE and MSOTS were amazing albums. I admire Billy for not being sidetracked by unloyal fans, and going where he felt HE wanted to with his music. Let the man be creative, you people are all so pessimistic.

///Side note:
I consider you both forum buddies though

Not to say that some didn't enjoy those albums but would you say that those projects were his best work?

I think it's hard to compare a solo album with band albums, as the focus is more diverse when you have a band throwing ideas on the floor and everyone wanting a chance to shine musically, than when it's one person on their own. Even when there's a band leader behind the wheel.
It's like a cup of coffee without the cream and sugar, it's not as sweet, but it still gets you through the day.
I love The Future Embrace on its own merits, it's hard to compare it to The Smashing Pumpkins albums. But looking at those albums alone, I think Machina is more advanced than Gish, I can't tell if it's better than Mellon Collie, as the feel of the album is completely different. And therein lies why I'm a fan: each album feels different, but I like them all.

///Main Course:
No, they aren't my favorite albums, but I think they're just as good as any Pumpkins album. My favorite song of all time is Walking Shade though.

///Side Note:
I think that certain solo albums are comparable to the artists' prior band. And yes, in this case. Come on, guys. James was great and all, but Billy wrote the songs and guitar and bass parts. I'll miss Iha, but I think Billy and Jimmy are the two essential members. Hell, even without Jimmy, they did great. But don't get me wrong, I'm sadenned by James and D'Arcy not being in.

Re: FIRST SP SHOW! 1 Year, 9 Months ago
First I want to thank TeaCupHeart for agreeing with me. YEs, it's hard to compare the difference between 4 musicians trying to outdo each other and 1 musician crafting his own piece of art. Everyone here loves billy...everyone here will admit that all of his work is good but in Popular opinion (and obviously Billy's as well) The Smashing Pumpkins has recieved more overall support than any of his other work under different names. Also, noone is saying Billy didn't write the songs - but even Billy has admitted that in SP everyone played a role: "There's a lot of chemistry in the band that the outside world could never witness. In our band, D'arcy is the moral conscience -- it's really hard to do something if D'arcy thinks its fucked." -BC

If you are going to give Billy all the credit for SP's "success" (something Billy wont even do) you must then explain his lack of "success" with other projects because the only factors that are missing with Zwan and TFE are James and Darcy. Dont get me wrong - it goes both ways because James' album was not great either. There is a formula for greatness and the formula was:

Billy, James, Darcy, Jimmy.

Numbers alone will prove that.

(P.S. My Favorite song on TFE is Camera Eye)

Re: FIRST SP SHOW! 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I also believe in the fact that Billy has become a better songwriter over the years (he admitted that himself, though said he had become a much worse guitarist ).
But I think the (lack of) succes he received with ZWAN and TFE or even with later pumpkins albums, is due to certain choices he made. He has always had the tendency to react against what's popular at a given time (like with adore, but in the beginning in a more subtle way). And sometimes, he was too radical in his choice (instead of using a little more acoustic guitars and electronica on Adore compared to MCIS, he decided to ban almost all the electric guitars, which dissappointed some "fans".

It's a matter of finding the right balance, and Billy has just become too radical, too reactionary. His opinion of what the right balance is, is different from the opinions of most people. I personally don't believe that that has something to do with the succes formula Billy-James-Darcy-Jimmy.

unloyal fans? why do you have to be loyal? if you like something the artist does then good, if their other stuff is shit then why do you have to listen to it?

anyway, i also consider you a forum buddy, even after our little mcr fight haha.

and whats with all this ///main course: stuff??

my favorite TFE song is also the camera eye. ive loved it even since i heard the pendulum version of it (not so long ago)
and i admit that id rather listen to the pendulum version of it.

Finally! Someone brought it up!!!
Thank jeebus, I can stop now...

"Unloyal fans:"
I don't think people should be blind enthusiasts of an artists. I just meant, people don't seem to be giving the happy Billy (Zwan) or the industrial Billy (TFE) that much of a chance. I listened to TFE for the first time, and thought it was all right. The second time I listened to it, I listened to all the songs in a different order. I was amazed. The album was a lot better for me, and it's one of my favorite albums of all time now.
