I picked up an original Caroline version of Gish today. I've had the Virgin one that most people have for a while. Just wanted to see if anyone has noticed any differences between the two. I haven't given them a listen side by side yet, but will soon...

Iv only got the remastered, if its much different you would probly only be able to tell with big speakers and i always listen with headphones

I'm thinking of ripping the tracks off both CD's to .wav, and then mixing each CD into one channel, so original on left and remastered on right. I'lll do that when I get some spare time.

i think i read somewhere the only difference is that the bass and drums are louder in the remastered version.

Just look under the bar code. If it doesn't really say anything, it's not remastered, but if it says remastered, well yeah. I don't think any of the Caroline editions say remastered.

(the big companies own EVERYTHING) i didnt know there was a virgin gish, i was hoping there was some awesome remaster, with lower tone drums and shit... got me all excited, lol

Yeah, Reprise is a vanity label for WB, and I think Martha's Music is just another name for Billy Corgan. Reprise was originally started by Frank Sinatra. A vanity label is kinda like a label within a label.

Lower tone drums is most likely the original! Caroline was owned by Virgin, and when the band signed to Virgin, they released it through Caroline to have more "cred" I suppose, and then they moved up to Virgin on SD.

Where from? I tried to order some from JB Hi-fi. I checked their site, and you can order them for 20 or 30, and then i went in store to try and order them and they were asking 40.
