The Pumpkins used to announce things themselves... or at least confirm or deny rumors that are out there about concerts, plans, etc... Why do you think this has kinda stopped?? They haven't said a word confirming the track list, and now it doesn't seem they will confirm this 'announcement' that Tarantula is the first single, and will come out the day of their first show.

I don't know, this is me just wondering, and thought I'd share it.

I can't find a source for this. Smashing Pumpkins aren't even listed as artists under Reprise/Warner's official websites.

Typically Billy puts the first single as track #2. I know there are exceptions, but this is a common move by him.

This happened with Gish and Adore. I'll give you Machina II because I think Cash Car Star would've been if it was a commerical release. But Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and Machina each saw different track numbers as the first single.

3/6, so I'd say a 50% chance, but I've read it would be track 4 that's the first single: here.

EDIT: Just checked Wikipedia and apparently I Am One was the first single, so that make Adore the only album to release a track #2 single. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I couldn't help myself though. I listened to some of the other songs on there.
CRAP. I don't want to dis Green Day cause I like their older albums, but out of that 30 seconds of their new song "working class hero" i have to say that it sounded like a 5th grader wrote the lyrics. that is all.

To my knowledge thats only happened one time. That being Ava Adore. So I would hardly say thats typical.

Wow, the way he sang that instantly reminded me of Ozzy. Don't know the name of the song though. I'll see what the rest of the song sounds like before placing judgment, I actually like American Idiot.

Originally Netphoria quoted an online source as saying that the new single was slated for relase on May 14th, which I thought was strange as it was like giving away too much b4 the first show. I totally believe the 22nd is a more reliable date.
