You know, I really don't care what critics of any sort say. I love SP and Billy Corgan and some journalist for some trendy magazine isn't going to change my mind! But it does make me mad, especially because one thing I've always found amazing about SP was their lyrics.

they just love to build them up and knock them down, i bet the particular journo near wet himself about gish when it was released before turning on them when they sold 10 million albums as they were too main stream, hes probably championing some stripped down guitar band with torn destroyed clothes and straight out of bed hair that cost their record company £20k with a stylist and a fashonable drug problem, who will also become crap in his eyes if they ever sell more than 5 records.

Um. I don't know about the writer being too hip or whatever. Just a pretentious retard like most music writers. I say this 'cause in Blender's "500 best songs since you were born" feature, there was only one Pumpkins song: 1979 in like the last ten. That's disgraceful seeing as they had so much commercial over-produced fluffy crap: several of Britney, Xtina, Justin Timberlake, Nsync, backstreet boys etc! What the Hell!!! That's the last time I ever buy their crap magazine.

And song lyrics are poetry. The "lyric" is a poetic form, like the ballad, or the rondeau, or the villanelle, thank you very much.

I've seen poems that were 2 lines long and didn't rhyme...What makes this a poem and not a statement or opinion....Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's like graffitti - some people see it as art and others see it as vandilism.

Billy's work has served its purpose - Millions of records sold, millions of fans satisfied! Who cares what this writer thinks - Billy's a legend!

Will ANYONE remember this guy or what he said his crappy article? I won't remember his name tommorrow but I'll still be listening to my pumpkins for years 2 come........

Critics don't fuel my opinions, im into some very unpopular bands where they are concerned, but saying that im into a few that they loved (Long live "Longpigs", may you rest in piece) but anyway.
