As an idea for 'Ultimate Surviour': how about we finish doing all the studio albums first, and those songs which survived to say...page 15 in their albums' thread, make it to the Ultimate Survivour??

Then I'll be able to make that SP mix CD I've been struggling to make for years...it's just so damn hard to get it down to 200 mins let alone 70!

Plus imagine when (IF) you do narrow it down to the last two songs.

I don't reckon the top 5 songs on each album is a very good representation of the top 20% of their studio songs catalogue.

I think the fact that most of the songs on Machina were eliminated so quickly goes to show how weak THE SONGS on that album are (in comparison to say SD). For example 'Glass and the Ghost Children' (5th) v 'Cherub Rock' (5th) is pretty much a no brainer, FOR ME. I think Glass would be one of the first to go. So lets not bother wasting time.

In a way 'The Ulitmate Survivour' game has already begun.

What youve got to keep in mind is for every song you put 5 points into the overall pot, so youve got to keep the starting list reasonably low in number of songs. I imagine just having 30 songs would be quite a long game.

What we going to do with MCIS? split it into the two CD's or do the whole album?

No, but if the songs were strong enough I think they'd have survived longer. I'm not a huge fan of The Everlasting Gaze, but it must be better than I think coz it's survived. We're all pumpkins fanatics here and my favourite thing about the Pumpkins is that they cover such a range in styles & moods. Quite often I don't 'get' a song, until I'm in the right mood, listening to it in the right situation or someone points out to me what it is in the song that makes them like it so much.

But yeah it's no biggie to have the top 5 from each album...I say we just finish the two games going atm, let alone worry about the other albums, let alone worry about an overall Ulitimate Survivor for the moment!

I like the idea of splitting MCIS into the two discs...btw!

It makes me sad when I hear about so many people saying Machina was a weak album. It's my favorite one... I'll never forget the day I received it in the mail...
