All us love the new songs... but What about the press ?
I´m Spanish and the critics for Primavera Sound Pumpkins show were very bad, they said the group and the public were cold. I´m disapoited because the people loved it,but those people and I are Fans... What think the general public and proesional critics?

Rolling Stone gave "Tarantula" 2 and a half stars and called it bland.

Music is such an objective thing, reviews really mean next to nothing.

yeah but its always nice to read a good review of something you like. I feel bad for the music I like when it gets bad reviews.

You shouldn't need to. Of course it's nice to get approval for something you enjoy, but why does the opinion of stuck up critics have to matter so much? If anything, I would want approval from friends and family over some dude I hardly know. (Not to say all critics are stuck up, there are fine journalists out there, but some just suck)

Rolling Stone has not officially reviewed the single, there are only reviews posted on the site by visitors. The one I read was extremely misinformed and biased, so I don't feel bad when morons don't like my music.

Based on what we've already heard, we can say it will be amazing to us...
Critics be damned because usually they are wrong anyway. Although it makes us feel vilified to see a favourable review on something we enjoy...

blitz, a music megazine from portugal reviewed positivly the show here in !Alive 07, although they said that some songs seemed to loose their magic.

I really don't care half the time what critics think anyways. Most of the stuff I love, for example, the critics despise.

Should we, the Smashing Pumpkins Fans, not just give a f**k about critics? I mean, they used to hate MACHINA, one of my favorite albums.
And I think they didn't like it, because they haven't understood anything about Billy Corgan nad his music.
Maybe it will be the same with Zeitgesit. I don't care about that, what other people say concerning the Smashing Pumpkins, because this is (and I think, I "speak" for everyone here) the music I like.

* Billy and Jimmy are the only original members (like it matters....Siamese Dream is praised)
* Billy sold out
* It's not the sound that's "hot", "fresh", "now" or what-the-fuck-ever they're looking for

Critics are often too predictable. They usually go along with popular opinion and/or their existing biases for/against the artist.

And it doesn't help that Corgan is seen as an ass.

Your right! It's not the sound thats "now", but if it is in a months time, Zeitgeist should be given as much praise as siamese dream, cause i think the sound is certainly "hot" and "fresh" and it's different from anything else being played around at the moment, which is why it has the potential to be great.

I have a real problem with critics when they review the band member’s personal lives rather than their music. If Billy publicly trashes D'arcy and then writes and uncensored blog about his life, he must not be able to write good music.

I couldnt care less about the critics and what they have to say...i know what i like to hear and i know what i don't, i don't need to be told!!!
Reviews i've read about past pumpkins stuff...well some are just stupid. They said billy was joking himself before Mellon Collie was released at the idea of creating a double album, all he created was rock history. They said Machina was too long...too long, thats just not fair.

They say this shit because they don't understand, i think your born a smashing pumpkin fan, i think it's a gift to hear their music and to quote billy from the pisces iscariot booklet

"special thanks to everyone for their continued support and a fuck you to those who will never understand"!!! Amen Billy.

Note: was just reading the bit that followed that quote in the booklet it reads "love, peace, empathy, desire, mischief, and gladness 2007"
