Any scottish fans here?

First SP Show in Scotland!!

As they prepare for the launch of their sixth album, Zeitgeist, their first album since 2000, The Smashing Pumpkins have just announced they will play Glasgow's Carling Academy on Wednesday 22nd August!

This second coming of the Pumpkins is also one of those rare examples of actual truth in 21st Century Advertising. Two years ago - on the release date of his first solo album - Corgan made headlines around the alternative rock universe by taking out ads in his hometown papers the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, an open letter publicly declaring his desire and intention to try "renewing and reviving" the Smashing Pumpkins. "I want my band back," he wrote, "and my songs, and my dreams."

And that's just what's happening!

Tickets for this legendary show are on sale tomorrow @ 9am, don't miss your chance to see one of the most respected bands on the planet live!

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS
Glasgow, Carling Academy
Wednesday 22nd August

Tickets available on line via www.gigsinscotland.com , www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0870 169 0100, tickets are limited to 2 per person.

- Taken from scottish pumpkins myspace thing...

Cus I'm not gonna go alone. My friends will only go to shows that are close & plus it costs a whole lot of money. For starters if I went & saw them in their London show I would have to get the train which would be about £15 then I would have to get taxis around London which would probably be about £30 then I would have to find accomodation for the night which would probably be about £100 then I would have to get food, more taxis etc etc. As you can probably guess thats alot of money I'm not willing to spend for a trip I'm making alone & plus as a student I barely have any money at all as it is. You clearly haven't thought this through at all so !

Its not hard, but not everyone has a money tree in their garden.
also some of us have other responsibilities such as family and children which take presedence over anything....including taking two days out seeing the greatest band on the planet.

On the other hand you cant expect the Pumpkins to play every city in the world.
Im just hoping they do put on a show in middle of UK, Birmingham, Nottingham, even Manchester would be OK. but if they dont, well thats just my bad luck.

I really hope they announce a Manchester show! Or anywhere else in the north. Yes I know I could have fought for London/Glasgow tickets and paid for hotel and train fare but there has to be a point where fandom stops and real life kicks in

A few hours?! Scotland would at least take me a day to get to. I think I would most likely have to swap trains about 5000000000 billion times as well !! Plus hold on, 22nd August is only 2 days before Reading Festival!! I think I could probably wait...

& seriously dude I have no money. I'm still paying off my Reading ticket!!!

I'm 18 so I'm in college. Well in college in England anyway, I am aware the college system in America is alot different. So yeah as you can possibly gather money is rather thin on the ground for me ha ha!! In all fairness though I have been a Pumpkins fan for 10 years so I dunno if you could count that as new generation?

when i was 18-19 i went to see the pumpkins 25 times on the machina tour
so age and school should not matter, i guess its the money situation. It was always good to be on melissa guest list for free shows !

well, there you go you lucky git!

I saw them once on Machina tour, but MAdM did give me the bracelet she wore at the Manchester Apollo gig, so I don't feel too deprived
