Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan passed through Memphis this week, stopping at Quetzal on Union to have some pancakes and at Shangri-la Records on Madison, where he bought over $800 worth of garage and psyche rock records. The band recently announced via their official Web site that they have re-formed and are writing songs for an upcoming album, their first since 2000. Corgan, who was accompanied by his girlfriend on his trek through town, has also been helping Courtney Love with her comeback album.



My only comment - - Who the hell goes to TN and chooses pancakes over BBQ???????????????????

This reminds me of the time when my friend's guitar teacher met Billy Corgan in Houston, Texas. He met him on his Zwan tour, and he was in a bar or a diner... can't remember... Anyhow, it's strange for Billy to have any gig in Houston, because on a Pumpkins tour in the 90s he was hit in the head by a beer bottle in Houston stating: "I'm never coming to this town again!" Or something like that.

Geez, billy is doing well for himself, siere swan, well done mate. Whatever happened to that girl he was with, elena was her name?

They broke up a while ago, although there never was a public announcement, there where comments made by Billy about being single and 'unlucky in love' or going to be 'eternally single' a few months back.

A mate of mine who lives in Chicago who's met Billy several times at concerts told me she's a little... up herself. He said he was talking to Billy with Yelena next to him, she asked people nearby to stop smoking to protect Billy's voice. Ok that isn't so bad, but she was holding a cigarette in her hand when she said this, smoking while sitting right next to him.

She did a lot of photography work for SP, i believe she directed the Thirty-Three video too.

Yeah...as long as Billy's with someone who isn't so uptight then that's cool.

I also recall that Yelena doesn't like Chicago.

interesting, i havent been to the usa, but id love to go to chicago one day and tour all the recording studios and other pumpkins landmarks.
