i was scrolling down to type that! i don't know though, didn't billy kind of insult him when he claimed nirvana wouldn't have been as big as they were if butch vig hadn't recorded gish? god i hope butch would produce the next cd.

I realy want this album to take over the world, i want this to spark a musical revolution, i want it to defeat all this horrificaly slutty pop music that young people are subjected to today, call me a dreamer, but im not the only one .
And because of this, i dont realy think the album is vocaly strong enough to do this, but hey, i could be wrong, i HOPE im wrong.


the live performances are definitely strong enough to do that, but aside from the special vocal effects on the album, the vocals are boring compared to the concerts.

That's the problem. Billy relies too much on the effects this album instead of just tapping into that rage and energy he had on MCIS and SD.

DIdn't they like heavily soothe his voice in SD..... Im pretty sure he had alot of effects on it.... In MCIS no that was more natural you can tell.

Yeah but the effects on SD were alot more subtle. In Zeitgeist you can tell when his voice is layered.

Do you think its possible that Billy may not have mixed as much as he used to on the albums?...... i still reckon it will be a good album though ..... haven't listened to anything but im hoping for it to be "SMASHING PUMPKINS" not "smashing pumpkins"

I like the songs, but i dont realy like how they were presented as much, let me put it this way, i didnt realy see the importance of a producer to experienced musicians untill i heard this.

I don't hear what you guys are talking about, and I don't want to because I like how everything sounds right now.

His background vocals are sometimes annoying. I do like the beginning of Bleeding the Orchid, seems to work with his vocals pretty good.

I already loved the album the first time I heard it, but each time I listen, my love continues to grow even more. So I just pray that those who dislike it will continue to listen, because I really do think that over time (if given a chance), this album will have staying power.

To be honest, the only Pumpkins albums I've been 100% happy with, in terms of production sound, are Adore and Machina II. They both fit to what they were aiming for.

All you dissers are on crack! The producers your talking about are the same guys who produced most (if not all) of Pantera's albums, (Terry Date) and Queen, the Cars and the Darkness (Roy Thomas Baker). What you guys are hearing (including the distant sounding guitars and drums on United States), are all done on purpose. Yes, including all the vocal effects. Ever heard of Depth and Dynamics? Yup. Turn up that volume to hear the drums better, and you're doing exactly what Billy and Co. wanted you to do! you're treated to a much louder and -closer- sounding mix later on in the song. You're hearing something you've never heard before, and its frightening and confusing you.

Since I haven't listened to it yet, does anybody know if this was recorded in Pro-Tools? If it was, theres your problem. Tape sounds soooo much better.

zeitgeist sounds amazing, all the way through. come on lets go and orchid are sure to be hits.
