no it does not - i think the "the" died in 2000 and the reformed band simply goes by "smashing pumpkins"...but i've always considered them to be both, even though billy was once quoted (pre-breakup) as saying it definitely includes "the"

lol, theres a real difference, smashing pumpkins sounds like an indie band, and the smashing pumpkins sounds like something else, a mainstream band

It kinda annoys me cos I have named all my Pumpkins music The Smashing Pumpkins, now it's Smashing Pumpkins I wanna change it all so it's... 'right' I'm OCD like that, everything has to eb just so y'know...
...but I prefer The SMashing Pumpkins :S

It should be "The Smashing Pumpkins", cause it makes you think just a little more. "Smashing Pumpkins" makes it sound like people are destroying certain orange spheres. "The Smashing Pumpkins" sounds like your calling yourself a pumpkin, and people who haven't heard the name have to think about it just a little more.

My pre-order tickets for San Francisco say "Smashing Pumpkins" also, when Tarantula came out on itunes before the album and I downloaded it, on my iPod it says "The Smashing Pumpkins" and everything else on there from my CDs say "Smashing Pumpkins"

I just leave the over-analyzing alone, haha. As of today, I really don't care which one it is, either. As long as "Smashing Pumpkins" stays part of the name, I'm fine! I don't care if "The" is attached to it.

Silly question: can we see a scan of that ticket? My footer says it all... I'm in for just SP - Smashing Pumpkins, always have... But of course I don't mind other people saying TSP - The Smashing Pumpkins.

i've always just referred to them as smashing pumpkins, though i know they used to be the smashing pumpkins
although on my itunes i just imported all the music from my cd (machina) and it's named smashing pumpkins. i don't think i renamed it...so they were possibly referred to smashing pumpkins already.
also if you use itunes, all you have to do is highlight all of them and rename them at once by right clicking to get info
