That looks a little odd (almost like an open tuning), I figured most of it was either (bottom to top) Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb [Tarantula for example, and the majority of the others I assume] or C# Ab Db Gb Bb eb [United States, Doomsday Clock]

Everything is just tuned down 2 whole steps...its not that uncommon. A Perfect Circle uses this tuning a lot.

That's not an uncommon tuning, the first one is Eb tuning, almost every group in the 90's used it, (nirvana, alice in chains) even Zero is played that way, the second one is droped Db tuning, is practically the same tuning but instead you drop the 6th string 1 whole step down wich is a very common technique, for example "Silverfuck" is played that way
it think the first guitar player to detune half step was Tony Iommy from Black Sabbath, since many 90's bands said they were influenced by them, this is not unusual for me.

If anything, it'd be weird for them to play in standard... only a few songs jump to mind when I think of standard tuning - Today, Geek USA, Cherub Rock....

A good portion of the TSP catalogue is tuned down half a step... many dropped D (Cash Car Star jumps to mind... I think Dross is too...)... and many are tuned down 2 steps (HMM, TEG, TIV)... Billy likes his alternate tunings.

Geek USA was a half step down...the Pumpkins almost never tuned down until Mellon Collie, and I'm pretty sure they've been all tuned down. The only album songs tuned down up until then were Crush, Geek USA and Mayonaise that I can recall. I don't mind that they tune down I guess (though I do miss sunnier sounding songs like Frail and Bedazzled) but I guess I don't like the way that songs like Cherub Rock sound when they're tuned down.

[shadow=red, left][font=Verdana]I agree on the tunings that dale_by_blimps says. I've worked most of the songs out by ear and they seem to be in either Eb tuning or drop-C# [/font][/shadow]

Heh heh thanks but I know my tunings, I meant the ones robertedge suggested were strange. And I beleive Hendrix used Eb, would that predate Iommi (I don't know my Sabbath very well! )?

Sorry if that comes across as arrogant, its not meant to be!
