I don't know. I've never really considered Foamy the squirrel a reputable source of musical criticism. But, then again, I guess this isn't about music so much as marketing.
I bought my Zeitgeist at Target for $9, while Walmart (who only carried the standard 12-track version) was selling their copies for $12-$14 each. It's silly - if this was a ploy meant to extort money from naive fans, why am I paying
less for the
special album? Either the Pumpkin's label is staffed exclusively by the mathematically retarded, or the band released the album
without the intent of forcing fans to go out and buy it's twins - knowing, as anyone who's been in the business for a while should know, that the fans will download the bonus tracks online, anyway?
The artistic value of my album wasn't decreased because of the purple cover or the spectacular bonus track - in fact, it may have increased. After listening to Zeitgeist a few times, I couldn't even imagine the album without the title track as it's closer. It just seems "right", you know?
I'm satisfied with my Target Zeigeist. It makes me feel special.
