Anyone know what Billy does to keep his head so well shaved? He either uses a razor to it or waxes it. I was just wondering because some people don't manage their bald heads as well as he does. Also, is he sensitive/touchy about it? I noticed he dodged that question in the ask a pumpkin youtube video. (Oh and this isn't out of disrespect, just curiosity). Thanks.

Well, he did initially shave it because he was going bald at a relatively young age (27). As for the upkeep, I bet Gooch does it for him. Gooch already mows Billy's lawn for him, so why wouldn't he mow his head too?

i guess billys lucky to have such a nicely shaped head or he might not be so popular (im not kidding) im bald to or getting there!

my under standing was he started going bald after taping the bwbw video. in that video his black hair is so sweet but it was short lived.

He was losing his hair. If you look at interviews done after MCIS came out, you can see it's getting very thin in front and receding. If you look at pictures in the years after, whenever maybe there is a tiny bit of stubble between shaves, you can see on the front and top where no hair grows.

i just remember that the night before mellon collie came out the pumpkins were playing a show at the riviera in chicago, and this girl called up q101 that afternoon to announce that billy had shaved his head. and the dj didn't believe her. and she said it was true, she knew it because of her Secret Pumpkin Sources, and the dj still didn't believe her.

and then they talked to billy on fox news before the show from the riv, and there he was with his bald head glowing in the camera lights.
i laughed so hard.

I think he maybe skiped the question cause he thought it was out of order, i mean, if you ask Scarlet Johansson about her face or her hair well, she's an actress but if you have a great band and a opportunity to see them answer questions the last thing you expect to see it's beauty secrets ... i don't know at least for me made sense that he skiped that one, i wish i could say the same about the other questions he skiped

Triple J had some Q&A thing with a special audience back in 96, and somebody goes "Hey Billy, why'd you shave your head? Are you undergoing chemo or something?"

Billy replied with:
