I've been starting to hear several rumours that the Pumpkins will headline the big day out festivals early next year, for all us Australian and new zealand fans, which I think is a very big possibility considering they finish their U.S tour late this year.

I just hope the rumours are true!!!
Any other aussie fans think they'll headline or know any truth to the rumours????

I would like them to do a conventional tour but.

there are no official sayings in the big day out....not even an australian tour.........fingers crossed!!!

Big day out is lame, i would go to it if it was the only pumpkins performance in australia if i had to, but a solo show would be what i would prefer.

I heard that rumour to, I definitely go just to see the Pumpkins.
I haven't been to a Big Day Out before, usually there aren't enough bands there that appeal to me enough.
But I just want them to come to Australia whether its just them or headlining the Big Day Out festivals.

its very unlikely that theyd just do BDO. theyll tour. and they'l either play the hordern, the big top (or both like NIN) for syd that is... i used to think theyd do the enmore like or tfe, but theyd have to do a heap of shows as it isnt as big... billy loves aus fans and he said hed be back when i met him for TFE so fingers crossed. and i mean if he came here for a solo tour he'll def be here for the pumpkins. so dont stress. its not like the pixies who have always had a huge fanbase her but didnt make it til this year lol

Yeah i agree, they'll prob do both BDO and tour, most likely Horden and/or (hopefully, cause it's better than @ luna) Enmore.
Have to wait to see for sure if they'll do BDO on 5th Sept. probably, when they normally announce 1st lot

They didn't come anywhere near australia in the farewell tour of 2000, despite much demand.

well i hope that they do tour aus cause that would be great me and "i_am_juan" are good mates and will be working at BDO so that should be alright and even better if SP headline like rumours say... then we're gonna see them if they do a tour so lets all cross our fingers and hope that they come to AUS...... so excited and cant wait for the news

somehow i think its different. were a long way away and when sp came to a close i think billy just did what he thought he could handle. and that didnt include a world tour, i mean who would want to do that if your band was falling apart. he said that hed be here with zwan ("that means you australia!!" and that didnt happen so he made sure that he was here for tfe but not to do a fucking BDO tour...and who knows what other factors privatly and business wise come into play..i mean the pixies didnt come here for the reunion tour, they just sorta came here out of the blue this year. more money this time round perhas? who knows

Even if they were to head the BDO, doesn't just about every headliner do sideshows?

yes. bands like sp, NIN, pixies etc dont just do a festival. even if it tours. itd be a waste of money

i'd be very surprised if the pumpkins don't headline BDO next year, the rumours to the main acts are never wrong, they got metallica and tool right in recent years

I started listening to the pumpkins in about 1995/1996 which i believe was just after the last time they came to Perth (for the MCIS tour). I have never seen SP, Billy or ZWAN. It would be great if they came to AUS, especially if they headed west and preferably for a stand-alone show.
