Well imports are exclusive to certain countries.

I've spent $20-$30 in the past buying imports of Adore, Machina and various singles just to get one or two bonus songs. So, I see no difference. If it's not available in your country, buy it off ebay or some other online store.

I'm at work right now, plus Best Buy doesn't open till 10:00am (it's only 9:00 right now) but I'm going to buy it at lunch. I'll let you know in a few hours. I'm kinda excited about it.

Alright, just picked it up.

First off notice the track order, the second half has been slightly rearranged.

The packaging is a standard 2 disc digipack with a grey color scheme (which I think complements the artwork well and looks the best out of all the other versions). There is no booklet of any kind, and the only picture is of Jimmy in the studio, which is on the inside cover.

I was very pleased with the new track "Ma Belle.” It sort of reminded me of an Adore era demo. It doesn't sound overly produced, and the drums and guitars are of course great. It's more of a melodic rock song. No big solos or power chords, but it does have a nice backing guitar that reminds me of the riff towards the end of Bring the Light. All in all it’s a great addition to the album and I’m sure will quickly become one of my favorites from the Zeitgeist era.

Now for the DVD...
I haven't watched it yet, BUT I know some people will be disappointed that it's only a 20 minute documentary, and as far as I can tell, that’s the only material on the DVD.

I think it’s worth the $10, but everyone else seems to be looking the gift horse in the mouth.

Uh ohhhh 20 minutes? Sounds a tad dissapointing... I was expecting to get live performances from the resisdencies & stuff as well as an in studio documentry, I hope the god its not just an interview with Billy & Jimmy

they told us it was going to be a "behind the scenes" style documentary on the making of zeitgeist. 20 minutes is just about exactly what I expected....especially in light of what it costs. nobody ever even hinted that residency performances or concert footage would be on this thing.

i'm off to get it as soon as i get off work in about an hour.

I just got back from buying it.

went to the "new" best buy on one side of town and was met with insolent pimple-facedness at the door. upon being asked if I needed help, I promptly said no and went straight to the "S" section in the music department. there's a hang tag on the shelf with the description and price but it's nowhere to be seen. dude comes back and asks if I need help...I show him what I'm looking for and he tells me they already sold all of them.

now, I know SP is the greatest band ever and all, but I refuse to believe little old Lexington, KY sold out every copy by 5:00 PM.

So I ask him to call the "old" best buy on the other side of town. while he's on hold, he proceeds to tell me how it's been a popular request today and how he's going to buy "that new britney spears CD" in a couple of weeks.

I almost vomited on his face.

so he hangs up and tells me they don't have it either and suggests I check back later in the week.

not good enough of an answer.

so I just go to the other best buy and what do I find but over 50 copies of it right there on the shelf.

ma belle is a very pretty song that starts soft and finishes big. nice dynamics to it.

and stellar is just that. what a spectacular track. (but we all knew that already)...this version of the album should have been the original base version, IMO.

I'll be watching the DVD tonight and will report on that tomorrow.

I don't think I'll buy this. It may be the record label's fault for releasing 226 versions of the same album, but I'm still not happy about it. And as for looking at it like a 10 dollar dvd with extras.... I dont'. It's 20 minutes from what I hear, and I can't talk about it because I haven't seen it...but I'd probably rather watch graceful swans anyway.


Fans will never be happy with what their artists choose to release and not release. (songs from the black hole anyone?) same goes for the final metro DVD.

I found the DVD quite enjoyable. I really like documentaries of artists in the studio, its a part of the creation process you don't normally see. There's nothing absolutely amazing about it and nothing profound was said during the interviews, but I still liked it.

I wish I could spend one day in that studio. I've never seen so many guitars, pedals, amps, etc. I would kill for some of that stuff.

okay, ma belle is absolutely incredible. why was it not on the acutal zeitgeist!?!?!?!?! dvd is cool as well. btw, with sales from this, we could be seeing platinum by december. they passed 800,000 last week

i just want to watch stuido documentary. i don't need another copy of the actual album itself :-/

then go buy it and give the album away to a friend.

or sell it to a friend for 15 bucks and make some money.

it's a freakin' 10 dollar DVD, folks. with a brand new song too!

I enjoyed the DVD too. I really liked the roy thomas baker stuff...I produce audio for a living so that really interested me. and how they talked about using the same tape machine mellon collie was recorded on....and how no studio techs even know how to work a tape machine anymore. jimmy said they had 30 or so "ideas" for songs after all the brainstorming and demo recording...so we've only heard about half of what was written for this album. I hope it comes out sometime later down the line. some of the best SP songs were ones that never made the official studio albums.
