I'm posting this everywhere, but I can't help being upset.
I hope Jimmy's ok and it's nothing some rest won't fix, but I can't help being extremely upset. the way the whole thing was handled was shitty for us. I took 3 days off work, put in for it back in Aug because I work for shitty fucking wal mart and you can never get fucking time off. I was so happy, that's what I'd been looking forward to for months, it's all I talked about. I'd been a die hard fan since 1991 and I'd never had a chance to see them. I bought a cute skirt outfit that looked like Billy (white and black stripes) and we drove 6 hours from the backwoods hills of Virginia (close to the TN line) to get there. We hung out with our friends who went with us, and it wasn't until 3 fucking hours before the show that we heard the 'unconfirmed rumor' about them postponing the show. We called my friend's dad and told him to check the website and see what was going on but there's nothing. We finally fight the Atlanta traffic to get to the Fox theatre and go see what's what. Sure enough, it's not happening, and because I bought my tickets from a nice girl on ebay I can't get a refund. $140 dollars (just the face value) and no Billy. I cried. Right on the street. I cried and cried. I'm just a poor, hardworking redneck girl in a big unfamiliar city with no Billy. No Pumpkins. No apologies, no prior warning, just a vague promise about rescheduled dates that if I don't have enough time to put in for the time off I won't be able to see. I cried on the way back to my friend's house. Yep, it's selfish, but what the fuck, man? How am I supposed to feel? I fought and fought to get days off so I wouldn't be so fucking tired and drive across four states or whatever the fuck for nothing. I missed a Halloween party up here and seeing my other hero Bill Mosely last friday cause I didn't have enough money to do both things. Yeah, I'm a selfish bitch right now, but I'm fucking upset. I can't help it. I can't just up and go to whatever concert I wanna go to, I have work and the sheer drive from the middle of fuckin nowhere where I live up in the hills with the cattle and groundhogs make it a once every couple of years thing. I'm devastated. I'm sorry if it offends any of you, and I don't want anything bad to happen to Jimmy. I love Jimmy, he's the shit. I would've been happy with an acoustic show if he was sick and couldn't make it. I would've been happy with Billy farting into the mike. Something. Anything. If they're all tired and overworked, then that's ok with me too. Take some time off to recover. Just why did you let me go on this big trip with no point and have me all worked up? And guess what my friend finds online when I get home, crushed, weeping like a little girl still wearing my futile Billy costume? Taht Billy went to this haunted house thing the day before and nothing was apparently wrong then. I coulda went to that just to meet Billy and make me not so miserable if he'd said something about it. I would've been happy with that, just to have gotten to meet him for a couple of minutes during some haunted house thing.
Well, enough bitching, I'm gonna go drink and cry some more.

I hope we hear more news soon and that Jimmy recovers. You know, it must have been somewhat serious, because Emergency Rooms kick you out as quick as possible and for him to acually be admitted overnight has to be pretty serious.

well, a lot of times if they see something weird they'll want you to stay overnight.
But we should have heard something by now

I'm not believing the source or the allegations. However, the explanation they gave was awfully vague, and it's reminiscent of excuses other celebrities give to hide drug issues. I believe Lindsey Lohan and Courtney Love gave similar statements to the press, just to name a few.
I don't believe it was drug related. I know habits like that are hard to kick, but I'm confident Jimmy learned his lesson when he was fired from the band during it's hay-day. as for the "vague explanation," why does anybody think they owe us anything more? This could be any variety of issues related to his healt/personal life that he doesn't want anybody to know about. Not because he's trying to hide it, but because it's really nobody else's business.

I really feel bad for you sandoz. I'd give you a hug if I could. I'm confident that if they felt there was any way they could continue with the show, they would have done it. They're such a fan-friendly band. I'm sure it bothers them that this kind of stuff had to happen to anybody. whatever is really going on here has to be something out of anybody's control. If I were in your situation, I would hang on to the tickets and wait for an announcement about a make-up show (which I'm sure they'll do) then just quit your job and go to it. have fun, live life for a night, and come back and find another job. wal-mart jobs are a dime a dozen. I don't mean that to sound condescending....just being practical. if you hate your job, you shouldn't stay at it.

I don't think they owe us anything. However, he is a public figure/celebrity and that makes him subject to public scrutiny whether he likes it or not. Besides, you wouldn’t just not show up for work one day and expect you boss to say “oh well, you don’t owe me any explanation.” And for those of us planning on going to the Dallas show, we don’t know if we should take off work, still make the drive, cancel our hotel, ect. I think there should be some kind of statement from management/Billy/Jimmy something to let us know what’s going on. And no, I don’t think that’s selfish.

with regard to how long this is going to last and how many shows they're going to have to postpone, I seriously doubt even they know what's going on. I think they've made all the statement they can make.
I guess if I had tickets and was driving from out of town I might feel different, but to me, this just goes back to that whole "the pumpkins are out to get me" mentality that emerged with regard to the album/DVD re-release. they're not trying to make life hell for anybody, and I'm sure they're going to make things known to everybody as soon as they're at liberty to do so.

Thank you all for your kind words, I've been mostly getting that I'm a pathetic, whining loser who doesn't care about the band and apparently someone got it in their head that I think Jimmy's back on drugs, which I don't think at all. I just want the band to know that I've invested over half my life in the pumpkins, I've put about as much time in that band as they themselves have, lol--I've been a rabid, die-hard fan since 1991 and have never stopped. Seriously, one can't help but feel slighted, the whole tour allllll summer goes fine and then the show I wanted to see, had worked and planned so hard for, has been cancelled. I know illnesses can't be planned for but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST have some PR to help the fans. If I'd found out earlier that day even I coulda went sightseeing or shopping or something, as it was the day was pretty much shot by the time we found out anything.

Hey Sandoz - I know just how u feel. I also think some of you are either very young or very insensitive to tell someone they should quit their job to see one concert??? Are u serious??? WHat if she would have quit her job to go to THIS show - and their wasn't even a show!! My advice - Screw the new SP! - keep your job and go to see a band that cares next time cuz it sure doesn't seem like this rendition of the pumpkins cares that much about the fans at all. It seems their just here to cash in on the name one last time (Like re-releasing the album with the DVD...so if you are a die hard fan who bought the album when it came out, now you have to pay double just to get the DVD???) Personally, I was through with them after the whole tickets-on-line fiasco I went through (when they said the tickets to the NC sessions would be on sale at a certain time - so I waited all day at my computer - just to hear later that the tickets weren't gonna be on sale until another day - but they didnt even let people know when that day was gonna be, so I missed out on getting ticks, wasted a full day of my life in total misery, and almost smashed my own computer out of frustaion!) It was so bad that I didnt even bother trying to get tickets to their Atlanta shows...and I live in Atlanta!!! Then of course I hear about this shit happenin and i'm SOOOO glad I didnt have to go through it. I totally feel your pain Sandoz, it's no fun when your hero lets you down. On the bright side I went to see the Shiny Toy Guns and they were awesome - they even gave me free tickets to another one of their shows (after I told them I was one of their biggest fans LOL) Maybe Billy is just too big to be cool anymore. How sad.

That really does suck . You are definately not been selfish, I would be just as upset as you if I was in the same situation...
It does sound like the Pumpkin gang are being very insensitive, I mean in a perfect world the remaining members would turn up to apologise personally & maybe play an acoustic set or something. I'm pretty sure they knew the efforts people have gone through to get to their shows so it would be nice to get a public apology from the band themselves. Then again we arn't all exactly sure whats wrong with Jimmy, they might be making it sound less serious than it actually is. Who knows? I just hope you are feeling a tad better today, have a cyber hug *HUG* !!
