Being in the UK really does suck. I mean we never get any of the stuff the American's do, its pathetic. For example with merchandise. I have to buy merchandise online cus the shops here don't sell any. I would even settle for a British Hot Topic...

ma belle is one of my favorite songs, i'm very surprised it wasn't actually on zeitgeist. i think it was a one day thing where once they're gone, they're gone.

Check out bestbuy.com, it says the internet shipping is sold out, but it's still available in stores. Click the preferred store link, and it'll list the stores in your area that have the re-release.

For those of you in the UK, I would be willing to trade the reissued Zeitgeist for Doctor Who BBC Hardback books, specifically Forever Autumn, Wetworld, and Sick Building. As those are not available here in the US.
I think one book for one CD is fair.

Ma belle is good (and the bass sounds especially cool), but its not great and so not really worth rebuying the cd (imo). Obviously you'd want to hear it, but im sure other ways will emerge in the future. I guess it comes down to the DVD; although isn't billy planning on releasing a dvd of the orangepeel/filmore shows: Id laugh if that came only with another version of Zeitgeist...

anybody whos anybody knows its the labels doing, and thats who im saying got you, lol, but its all good, i think thats the way of the future, a couple months or so later a re-release with bonus's and cheaper price shows up

Haven't had time to read all the posts here, but here are my thoughts...

Firstly, it's probably nothing to do with band members, but the release of so many versions of Zeitgeist seems like a shameful way of exploiting the diehard nature of many SP fans.

So far I just have the booklet edition of Zeitgeist, but I have now ordered the new DVD version.

Putting it on BestBuy.com is also annoying. They will only ship to US addresses and only accept payments from US credit cards. The Pumpkins have fans outside the US............
Luckily I know someone who lives in the US so I am getting it via them. But instead of the $12 approx it would have cost me if I lived in the US, I am now paying over $20 due to the charge for a money order and paying the extra shipping to Canada once my friend forwards it. Oh well. It could be worse as I'm sure some SP fans want it but will have to wait for it to appear on Ebay, no doubt at a bumped up price.

The other minor quibble I have with the release is why is the track Zeitgeist not on there?? Now even with the 2 copies of the album I'll own I'd still have to buy another copy if I wanted a (legal) copy of the song Zeitgeist on CD.



So, the DVD sounds good, but the release of so many versions and the choice of site through which to sell this version is more than a little annoying.

epitome I agree with virtually everything you said there.

Although I am not totally against different versions of the CD it is getting very exploitative. They should have just released maybe 2-3 versions, 1 being the normal edition, 2 being the one with the book & 3 being the one with the DVD. Or even better just two versions & the book comes with the DVD & the tonne of extra tracks (including the omitted Zeitgeist).

Although alot of people are saying that the band has no say in it they must have some kind of contribution. I don't think the record company was like: "Right Billy, you've got one CD here how about we release it in different colours, some with added bonus tracks, one with a book, then to piss off the world we'll release a Best Buy edition that can only be purchased in the US as a big fat 'fuck you' to all your fans!" So the band must have said something towards all these millions of versions.

I have supported them this far, & although I have totally embraced the band's reunion so far, because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have seen the best gig of my life, but as far as Zeitgeist goes its wearing very thin indeed. Release something new, even if it is a small Ep!

Well, I think the record label could easily have got all the tracks from the band and split them on to different versions of the album without the band's consent. That said, it's entirely possible the band did agree to it.

On an almost related topic:
Robert Smith of the Cure wanted their next album to be a double CD effort, but his record label refused. As such, he is producing songs himself and putting out a double CD, whereas the record label is producing some of those songs for a single CD release. Personally I hope everyone pays for the double CD version and ignore the record label's meddling completely

Went to Best Buy today to get a new Microwave.
I told myself I wasn't going to get the new CD/DVD.
But, I can't stop my Smashing Pumpkins obsession and blew 14 bucks on it anyway (that's right. My Best Buy is the only Best Buy in America that has to raise the prise by four bucks.)

I am, however, very glad I got this.
Ma Belle is AWESOME! I'm blown away by how beautiful it sounds.
I am suprised Stellar and Ma Belle didn't make it on Zeitgeist. They're such amazing songs.

The album artwork's pretty cool to. I think the silver/gray is the best looking Zeigeist color (So far. Let's hope there wont be any new versions). And the pic of Jimmy is awesome.

As for the DVD, I'm gonna watch it soon. I havn't read any thoughts are replies about the DVD on this forum so I don't know what It's gonna be like. I assume it'll be just like their podcasts.

I mean - really, if the DVD is of the MAKING OF ZEITGEIST couldnt they have included it with the original disc and that also goes for the 3 songs taht everyone had already heard. NExt will be a version of zeitgeist signed by Billy and Jimmy!!!

I mean really - If they cared this time wouldnt they have given all the bonus stuff to the people who bought the album first??? Like shouldnt the first 10,000 people who bought zeitgeist get the goodies??? Why are they rewarding people who bought the album 4 months later instead of diehard fans who waited 7 years??? Oh, I guess because they know that THOSE fans will buy the album over and over again. I cant believe this - especially in today's era when artist like Radiohead and Prince are practically giving their music away!!!!
