I think in one of the aol session interviews he mentioned that maybe they would make a new album, but maybe not...maybe they'd just keep playing new music (like at the filmore)

on one of the aol interviews billy specifically says that he doesnt know if hell make another album because the method of releasing albums is getting old and releasing through the net may be a better idea - so i dont think he knows what hell do next: but one thing for sure is that hell keep making new material whichever way he releases it. hes made a big deal over the fact the band do make new stuff and this isnt just a reunion tour.

That's just Billy commenting on the sate of the music industry. New music will come, but in what capacity is the question.

As long as they keep making new good music, I don't care how they release it.

I HATE the idea of digital music without CDs. It'll be a very sad day for me if bands stop releasing albums as they do at the moment.

+1 to epitome. Digital music is rarely released in decent quality (although I am sure if a band were to release a download-only album, they're rectify this). But I will miss album art too much.

In my opinion, I think we still have plenty of time before iTunes and other digital music will take over. I think we have many CD's yet to come.

Agreed! Maybe I'm an old curmudgeon in this digital era but nothing's more exciting than ripping the plastic off a CD, smelling the liners (you know you do it too!) and reading the lyrics like a psalm.

There's something to be said about carrying your entire music catalogue where ever you go. If you car has an iPod hook up (as mine does) it makes it that much better. Takes up less space, easier to find/play/look up certain songs. I'm all for it.

Will the Pumpkins release another studio album in the compact disk format? Probably.

Or, will the new release be entirely online, like Machina II? Perhaps it will also be free...? There's always a possibility.

Or, perhaps Billy will sprout butterfly wings and circle the globe, pooping giant sonic cocoons on our heads?

Or, perhaps the Pumpkins reunion will fizzle out after the Zeitgist tour is over. God forbid, right? Too much work was put into this reunion for it to amount to nothing, I think. Zeitgeist was just a stepping stone for things to come, in my humble opinion.

No matter what the Pumpkins release in the future, or how they release it, one thing stands alone as absolute truth: it will be rocking!

in modern drummer, jimmy said they were going back into the studio after the current tour. doesn't look that way now that they're going back to europe. i was hoping for something to come in december such as another single or gossammer.. oh well.

I say yes, they will release at least one more album. And I also agree with those that say the disappearance of CD's would be a shame. I love having hard copies of the official album. MP3 players have their place, but I'd hate to see that become the ONLY way I could get new music. I will second the notion that Zeitgeist is a stepping stone. I have a gut feeling that something epic is on the horizon. the next album is going to be fantastic.

I have an 80gb ipod with my entire music collection on it - and it's awesome - but I still want the shelves full of CDs!


Some bands have already released albums as download only. Ben Weasel from Screeching Weasel being one. Luckily I don't like him enough to worry about not owning that album.

If music does become digital only then I guess I won't be paying to get it...
