Re:New Tour Dates 12 Months ago
Aren't those Australia dates just rumored? According to Ozphoria at least they seemed to be.

It's kind of strange they would go back to Europe this soon, rather than say go to South America or Asia or something first. Or you know Chicago...I haven't seen SP since they returned. The only chance I had at all was the Toronto V-Fest but I moved for school to you guessed it...Chicago. I need to something at least once in their hometown, and preferably at Metro.

This is my track record in recent times with Billy related shows
-Solo tour 2005-Had an unchangeable vacation that I made to go to Chicago that my brother and scheduled around being able to go to a Cubs game. Months later we would find out that Billy would playing in Toronto when were in Chicago and vice versa. So we had to end up taking a road trip to Philly the week before
-Zwan-they announced their first tour date in Canada after we had booked a flight back home already. Our flight back home was December 17th, and the show in Toronto was the 18th. Then in March, they returned but I couldn't go because I had an unchangeable group presentation in a night class to do. It was lucky that my brother and I had anticipated that we might not get to see them play Toronto again, so we had to end take an extremely long bus ride from T.O. to Chicago see the band in January 2003

Before that, I had seen SP at the United Show, my first ever trip to Chicago. We were lucky enough to be able to see SP at two Summersault shows (although they were only 50 minute long sets), and the Guvernment in Toronto that year. Previous to that we had seen SP twice in the previous 4 years. The first time they finally came to Winnipeg in 96 (good thing I got into the band then), and we had to convince our parents to drive us 9 hours to the Minneapolis Free Concert in 98.

Yes, technically still rumored. But IMO, everything is set, just waiting on the annoucement. A Netphorian that claims to work in publishing has the official poster in his hands that will be run as an advertisement. That poster has SP as the headliner. Plus they already have ties with VFest, so why wouldn't they play the Australia dates?

Re:New Tour Dates 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Well Aussies can rejoice, the tour dates have been confirmed. I just got an email newsletter from Ozphoria. I am not Australian obviously but given that the SP fan projects I have been involved are international, it is good to try and be involved in other international SP fan communities.

Anyways, here is the e-mail:
The tour rumour we reported earlier this week is true, The Smashing Pumpkins will tour Australia in 2008 as part of the Virgin music festival: V Festival 08. This will be the first time The Smashing Pumpkins have toured Australia since the 1998 Adore tour.

Virgin Festival Dates:

- Sydney - Saturday 29th March (Centennial Park)
- Gold Coast - Sunday 30th March (Avica Resort)
- Melbourne - Saturday 5th April (Showgrounds)
- Perth - Sunday 6th April (The Esplanade)

The full line up of the Virgin Festival is: Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Duran Duran, Mika*, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Presets, Air*, CSS, The Tough Alliance, Plug in City + more to be announced. (* Not appearing in Perth.)

Now for the most important part, tickets. They are available from Ticketmaster: Virgin Festival Tickets (http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/vfestival) tickets go on a pre-sale as of TODAY! to Virgin customers ONLY. We are not sure when they will go on sale to the general public, keep checking Ticketmaster, Virgin Festival and of course Ozphoria websites to find out the latest news.

There is no word on any side shows for The Smashing Pumpkins at this point, however once we find out we will let everybody know.

SP haven't been to Australia since the Adore tour? I guess that's right, but that seems like a long time without returning.

You know there will be side shows. The wouldn't go there just for the festivals, that would be a waste. I heard a rumor about a possible New Zealand show.

I hope to God there's gonna be side shows. The only other band worth seeing on Vfest is Queens of the stone age. I don't really wanna see anybody else.

By the way I should probably mention that there are official dates on the Aussie vfest site for the pumpkins (and that guy on Triple J thinks he's being exclusive!).

Nooooooo! V Festival doesn't come to Adelaide They're doing all the eastern states, then going to Perth, they have to fly over South Australia to get there, why don't they just do a show here?
Anyone think the Pumpkins will organize their own shows aside from the festival for Australia?

You would expect sideshows to follow... they have a week between V-Festivals in Sydney/Gold Coast to Melbourne/Perth... so maybe sydney sideshows before the 1st festival show, maybe Melbourne & adelaide during the week in between and a perth show after the 6th April (7th)...........Logistically speaking/reasoning behind that theory. Brisbane can miss out if they want. haha

If the Pumpkins do do sideshows, how long do you think before they announce them?
I don't really want to go to Melbourne for a festival, but I will if I have to!
