That's right, they'll be here for the V Festival. 4 shows.
Sydney 29/3/08
Gold Coast 30/3/08
Melbourne 5/4/08
Perth 6/4/08
Tickets go on sale next Thursday.
$131.70 + booking fee, except Perth which is $125.90 + booking fee, since there are less bands playing.
Also playing are Duran Duran and Queens Of The Stoneage.
Do I pay the ridiculously large price for an average music festival headlined by my favourite band, or do I wait for them to announce the SP concert which must surely preceed it? I'll be sweating over this decision all week,

Mmmmm... I know exactly what you mean. I'm most likely gonna go to one of their Sydney shows. I wish they would actually announce some independent dates of their own soon so I don't have to pay for a festival where I would only see two, possibly even three (although I'm heading right away from Duran Duran) bands. I hope they play a decent amount of dates too. 1 date for Sydney will be nowhere near enough.

I'm in the same shoes as you I think... I'm happy they're finally coming to Australia, but I don't really want to organize a trip to Melbourne, fork out $130 and see a bunch of bands I'm not all that interested in just to see the Pumpkins play a set, but I will if I have to though. I'm holding out for them to announce their own shows, it would disappointing and kind of stupid if they just came down to play the four V-festival shows.
I'll wait and keep close watch on smashingpumpkins.com to see if they announce any extra tour dates.

OK. anyone who seriously thinks they wont do a sideshow or two for every city is NUTS. its like i kept saying they wont do BDO theyll do a smaller festival. but no-one ever listens to me!!!
dont be suprised if they dont announce sideshows/sell tix for another month. its what happened with the pixies around Vfest this year..
im going to V. im going to see the pumpkins as many times as possible while theyre in syd. and i think ill go see QOTSA again and DEF jesus and mary chain in sideshows too. its like my bf always says, bowie covered the pixies, who do the pixies cover?...the jesus and mary chain...
and i have Vfest pre-sale heck yes!!! im buying my tix on tues.

I wouldn't expect anything special at VFest. I'm sure the majority of those set will be singles and with a little "Shitgiest" thrown in. Towards the end of the North American tour they were soundchecking some pretty awesome songs:
