I hate to be that guy, but the day's almost over and no one has mentioned it yet.
Seven years ago today the world said goodbye (so they thought) to the Smashing Pumpkins. This once in a lifetime show is a testament to how good they actually are and still moves me to this day. So kick back, give a listen and take a moment to remember something special.

a day to be remembered forever. i remember watching the reports on the local chicago news. (parents wouldn't let me go because i was too young)

I realized a while ago that today is actually the third...but I guess no one else noticed either. haha,

7 years ago, a bunch of my pals and I in the So Cal Smashing Pumpkins fan club got together in one girl's dorm to watch SP vids, share memories, and call our friends who were at the show! They kept giving us updates every half hour or so and put it on speakerphone.

I remember driving away in the frost listening to "This Time" and crying so much.

Who knew they'd be back?

great post, trillian. just reading that story gave me chills.

i honestly can't say i remember where i was or what i was doing that day. i remember being aware it was happening (obviously) and wishing i could have found a way to get to chicago that night, but don't remember any specifics.

it was a sad day, but a great day for remeniscing and honoring the amazing accomplishments of this band. let's hope we don't have to go through that again in the future....

This thread makes me wonder when we're gonna be able to get our hands on an awesome copy of this show...

yea! that would be awesome. they should also release the united center concert footage- and awesome concert

i just remember the music channel's thirty second news, smashing pumpkins are breaking up do to some boy bands or something, and they were playing the last show that night... i just thought "that would be sweet to see" i think i was twelve and thought zero was the most impossible guitar song ever. lol. ***for the longest time i thought the harmonics were actually played notes***

the metro dvd is the most puzzling thing, i mean like why???? its actually kind of impolite to the fans who couldnt be there, but i guess it wasnt really the end, unless of course billy was/is still in his "new technology is whack, back in my day you had to go to clubs blah blah blah" thinking

i was twelve 3 years ago and i thought zero was impossible!! i could never play it... i still cant play the solo, have no crazy effect pedals. just an amp, and acoustic, and an electric
