Just read it on the Pumpkins site then, should be good, I'll definitely be getting it. The Rose March was a residency song wasn't it?
Either way, sounds cool.

I was really hoping for "I Don't Mind" and "Question Mark" but oh well, I'm still excited.

Re:American Gothic EP 1 Year ago
Now I'm thinking these are all residency songs in disguise. We all know how Billy likes to change the name of songs (Virex = Imploding Voice, Disco King being Everlasting Gaze, Suicide Kiss is Geek USA, you get my point). I think that's what we're getting here.

POX…….possibly Peace and Love
Sunkissed……Question Mark

It just seems odd that only one residency song would make the cut. Thoughts??

I think you maybe right PP. I can't see them writing this many new tracks without us hearing them in the tour.

Also, does anyone know whether Jeff & Ginger play on the EP?

Re:American Gothic EP 1 Year ago
from Rolling Stone:
After releasing roughly 1,342 different versions of Zeitgeist in 2007, the Smashing Pumpkins will kick off 2008 with the release of their American Gothic EP, an acoustic set that features four unreleased songs: “The Rose March,” “POX,” “Sunkissed” and “Again, Again, Again (The Crux).” Corgan says the EP (which will be released digitally January 2nd) title is “continued comment on the state of our country.”

I thought it was funny they took a shot at Zeitgeist.

Re:American Gothic EP 1 Year ago
at least it's getting some publicity. anyway, i have faith that the last 3 songs aren't residency songs. rose march is good but i'd love to hear 3 new tracks. and i dont' think ginger or jeff played on it since they both said they were at home.

Re:American Gothic EP 1 Year ago
jimmy chamberlin kicks ass on drums (lol, im just listening to the outro to united states)

im glad to hear about this, just because its another four songs added to the official pumpkins song list... and another four songs away from zeitgeist. im not to fond of acoustic songs, but im hoping these songs are not just acoustic and voice. and something more like of a broken heart

the crux sounds like the most interesting song, i cant wait to hear it. woot.

Actually, based on what the media has been describing it as, it sounds to me as if it'll be 4 more steps towards Zeitgeist. Not that that's a bad thing by any means, but a "continued comment on the state of our country" is definately nothing fresh at this point. Just a continuation. Personally, I'll hold my excitement until we start hearing more info about a new album...

I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to become excited over a digital-only release. This saddens me greatly, as I've always been an ardent opponent of the digitalization of music. On Wikipedia, they said that there would perhaps be a physical release of the EP internationally? Why not in the States?

Maybe I can fetch it off of Ebay when the time comes...iTunes is silly.

[EDIT: After reading SP.com's news section on AG, I noticed that alot of negativity was being vented toward the EP and the Pumpkins in general. It's like the omnifaceted Zeitgeists all over again - people think that it's Billy, the man, trying to rip them off, when really the Pumpkins are just as victimized as we are by the current musical "Zeitgeist"...meh, let it be known that I'm raging against iTunes, not the Pumpkins. Bring on American Gothic, but fuck iTunes. I'll import the real EP.

American retail doesn't typically carry EP's anyway. Even if the physical product was released in America, we'd probably have to order it online, anyways. Maybe this is what they had in mind when they decided to releae it in this fashion.

Again, screw iTunes. Thank you.]

Once again the Pumpkins are damned if they do, damned if they don't. Maybe they should just stop releasing material all together, that way the collective you wouldn't have anything to bitch about.

Then go stick you Siamese Dream cassette in your 1980 Ford Pinto and drive it off a cliff because trust me, cd's will be gone in 2-3 years.

Umm...yes they do. Bands release EP's all the time.

...Again, screw you. Thank you.

haha, for all of those wanting a physical copy, i'm sure they'll be on ebay. i know i'll be looking, but there's no point in fighting the inevitable, cd's will become a thing of the past sooner or later. I'm just very excited to potentially hear 3 new songs since we've already heard the rose march. (Love the song though )

Re:American Gothic EP 1 Year ago
American Gothic was produced by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, with one song co-produced by Roy Thomas Baker. The songs were recorded at the Pass Studio in Los Angeles, CA while the Pumpkins were on a break between their 2007 national tour and upcoming 2008 European tour.

"We have always regretted not recording more in between tours because albums have never caught the full story of the group...it's sort of Zeitgeist+," says Billy of American Gothic, the title of which is "continued comment on the state of our country."

"I had written a bunch of material during the residencies in Asheville and San Francisco [earlier this year]," continues Billy, "and fans kept asking us if we were gonna put any of that stuff out. iTunes came to us wanting to do something together, so it just felt right."

"I have performed 'The Rose March' occasionally solo on tour, and the response from the audience always seemed to indicate the song had the 'X' quality." The song had an early unveiling in November 2006 when BILLY performed it at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles as part of a series of shows assembled by Pete Townshend's girlfriend and songwriter partner Rachel Fuller. "Afterwards, Pete came up to me and asked me if we were putting that song on Zeitgeist. I told him we weren't, and he told me I was crazy. That stuck with me--Pete certainly knows more than I."

This furthers my opinion that it's all residency material.
