How long do you think the new Pumpkins will last, billy is getting a bit old now (he turns 40 next year right?), will this be the next Rolling Stones (geez i hope so).

Well what do you all think?

I think they'll probably work like Sonic Youth or something. Maybe in very Pearl Jam way in that they'll take breaks now instead of always being about work, work work. I mean, James will have Vanessa and the O's and Scratchie to tend to (and hopefully another solo album ). Jimmy has his daughter and wife to keep in mind. Billy will probably start winding down too. But I don't know. That seems like the logical thing to do.

I would suspect maybe 2 albums and tours max, because Billy has always said that once he hits 40 he'd really prefer to not work anymore (though not sure he can stay away from music, really) 8)

i think the pumpkins have become a side project to them, yeah maybe 2 cds and tours, but i suspect billy will be doing something with music forever.

I don't know if they'll be working as hard with recording and touring so much as they used to because the Pumpkins are growing up and getting older but I hope they last a long time. I guess we'll see what happens though.

i really can see them being around for a while, but more as a collection of musicians than a band


they'll each have solo stuff, and produce other people's music, and occasionally they'll just hang-out and end up writting an album.


the smashing pumpkins will be the side project, and all their solo stuff willl be there main thing.

least, that is what i minorly hope.

Without James and D'arcy around to make the group whole, I dont really see it being all that successful, atleast not commercially. To me it seems like the Pumpkins arent the Pumpkins without everyone. I think individually they will all be involved in music in some way or another and thats awesome. And hey the Stones Rule, young or old. They have to be doing something right if they still sell out arenas!

i think billy is like bowie. band or no band he'll always be making music (hopefully) and like bowie he'll be 50-something and still releasing great albums. so im not worried either way. i guess it just means that ill be able to see "the pumpkins" live seeing as there were a bit before my time in their heyday ha
