The Smashing Pumpkins are soon to play their first shows of 2008 starting in the Czech Republic on the 30th.
To whet everyone's appetite, we can announce the following from Billy:
"We are currently rehearsing for the new tour, and are working on 10-12 songs we haven't played since reforming, spanning all periods of the band. We are hopeful to put together a completely new set for this arena tour that would feel a lot different from our 2007 shows."
The band leaves January 28th for Europe. Until then!
Sounds promising. I was VERY tired of the sets they were playing in 2007. I'm hoping for some better recordings...maybe some SBD?? |

Yeah, we got Hummer in Denver.
I could go for some Jellybell, Geek USA or Rocket.
Do you suppose they'd tour around the US any more before they go back into the studio (if they do)?

Wooooooo! Lets hope they play a little Starla, Soma, Mayonaise, Rhinoceros, Geek USA, I Am One (hahaha with the rant), Ava Adore, Quiet, Silverfuck....
I Mean Lets hope they play all those songs that are amazing on the albums but when you hear them live are just beyond mindblowing

I think it must be a live thing. They didn't play it the few times I saw them this past year, but I'm not much of a fan.

I was fortunate enough to hear them do Starla, Ava and Silverfuck in San Diego!
But yes, Mayonaise definitely. That's the song that saved my life and made me a true SP obsessive.

It was interesting that no covers were played during the European or US tours. I figured they would be playing at least one standard cover throughout.
I'm anxious to see what's in store for these arena shows. Some songs work better in the larger settings. So I’m predicting more rock, less acoustic, but still heavy on the singles.
Do we have anyone going to the first show on the 30th?

The Mighty SP has arrived safely in Europe.
The band has been rehearsing feverishly and with stunning results. After a 6 hour run-through this afternoon, the new show and lighting set up is ready to go!
There are 15 songs that will be in the line-up for this tour that were not played during the 2007 tour. What will they include? Wait until tomorrow to find out when they post the setlist on SP.com!
Also, straight from Billy Corgan himself:
"We are very excited and feel this is a strong step forward towards both the future and honoring the past... Oh, and I got new clothes everybody else too!"
Expect a smashing 2008!
New songs, new lighting, NEW CLOTHES!
This will be truly awesome.
