What the hell are you going on about?
I say it agian: I just wanna know what songs you like best...what's the matter with "Era" or "SP2"?
Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and Gish, for exampke, also were eras! An era is the time around an album a band gets through...where's the problem? For me, it's SP2 since Zeitgeist, that's all!
It wasn't meant to be rating in any way!

Don't worry Don. I think he's the only one who has no clue what you're saying.

No, I get it 100%. How is any of this an era? Albums and assosiated album materials is what you want to talk about. Is there a magical kingdom involved somehow? It's not a different band, they arn't Madonna, and there arn't ghost writers. Era? Smashing Pumpkins 2?
Is it not possible to talk about music like sane people that have business being on a computer?

e·ra
–noun
1. a period of time marked by distinctive character, events, etc.
2. the period of time to which anything belongs or is to be assigned
3. a system of chronologic notation reckoned from a given date
4. a point of time from which succeeding years are numbered, as at the beginning of a system of chronology
5. a date or an event forming the beginning of any distinctive period
We're not talking about monarchs here. The "Zeitgeist Era" would encompass the time period between Zeitgeist and the next album. It's pretty easy to understand. Now what are you talking about?

It varies on any given day, really.
I've been in love with For God and Country from the get-go, though. There's something about those Tears for Fears synths and eldritch atmosphere that makes it a song I can never get myself to skip.
As far as residency songs go, Gossamer and Question Mark are both winners.

Bleeding The Orchid for me.
See, for me, I quite like every song on Z, but EVERY song, bar one or two, has something that makes me dislike it.
Bleeding the Orchid is great, but every time I play it, the Billy Corgan choir whining "Ahhhhhh-ahhhhh-ahhhh" puts me RIGHT off. Often I have to skip the first few seconds.
Yeah it would have been better without or with a female voice doing the harmony vocals. But with the song over all, perhaps I sense old Pumpkins in it or something. It's the one song on the album where the absence of James and his ebow is not as noticed for me. To me I can hear elements from 1989 demos and Machina and somethings in between. But maybe I am just hearing things.
Although Billy said during either during Inside the Zeitgeist interview or the Zeitgeist Track by Track interview that was posted on Myspace (don't remember which one) that "Bleeding the Orchid" and "That's the Way" both sounded more like old Pumpkins, then they were changed around to not sound so much like that. I know he mentioned "That's The Way" during the XM Artist Confidential performance as well.
Funny thing is before I knew any of that, those two tracks were my favorite on Zeitgeist
As for "Sunkissed", initially it had too much of a Zwan feel for me, especially during the beginning, and liked "Pox" the best. But eventually "Sunkissed" became my favorite on American Gothic. And it shows in my iTunes: Rose March-25; Again, Again + Pox-both 24, and Sunkissed-34 times. If you are wondering why I listened to American Gothic that much, well for awhile I didn't have my CDs with me, and I don't have enough room to import my entire CD collection on to my comp anyways, so I listen to the stuff that is on my comp more.

Hmm, in that case, I wonder if any Z demos will surface at all?

Thanks for your definition Murder, that's exactly what I wanted to say:
The period between the release of Zetgeist and the next album!

the fact that they released the song zeitgeist makes me believe there are some acoustic demos. zeitgeist doesnt feel like it had too much work done to it- making it one of the best songs on the album.
i vote Stellar, bring the light, or tarantula
the residency songs didnt do much for me. i liked if all goes wrong, and rose march, but then they recorded rose march and added billy's annoying choir of himself

i like the song, just it could have gone without billy's choir and mybe ginger, or lisa singing it. their voices are nicer for things like that

Just recently listened to Z, been trying to get into it, and came to a decision that Tarantula fookin' ROCKS. I reckon it would sound great to start off the album.
I might bring up an older topic and make my own Ultimate Z playlist..
