I didn't care for the "Tarantula" video but it was better than any of the videos Post-Pumpkins probably. It would have been better if it turned out like the Tarantula contest winner did.
But yeah "That's the Way" was light years better, even if it was a little weird. I really liked it for some reason but nothing can compare to the videos that Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Farris did.
I wish they could do another video for the Pumpkins, but I am guessing they will be focusing on features from now on, ever since Little Miss Sunshine If you are paying attention, there is a Pumpkins easter egg in that movie-the cost of the stuff that Steve Carell's character buys at the gas station is $19.79---1979

) And in case you are wondering, I picked up on that the first time I saw the movie. I think I expected their might be some SP reference thrown in there.
Anyways, yeah it was kind of ridiculous that in the TEITBITE video, that they were basically playing in Batman's head. I think that was Joel Schumacher's doing. Wasn't it co-directed by Billy and Joel Schumacher? I remember seeing green screen video previews and Joel Schumacher was talking about it.
Other than that, I kind of thought the guitars were kind of strange and sort of cool, at least at the time in that video. And the black tunics and all that. It probably been a lot better without the Batman footage in the background
Oh also, what was worse than "Tarantula" was the "Walking Shade" video (not a good song either). That was HORRIBLE. And it may surprise you to know the Walking Shade, Tarantula, and That's the Way were all directed by the same guy (I forget his name, he is known for White Stripes videos I believe).
