I can't ignore my fear of Billy saying "Evolution is illusion"
I know people say those arent the lyrics, but it seems like a "christian" thing to say....

as we continue talking about walking shade and tfe, i still wish mina loy had been the first, and if, only single from tfe. anyway, evolution is illusion is a christian line but it seems pretty powerful to me

Walking Shade is fine by me, personally. Tarantula's video was a monumental let-down. I actually liked That's The Way more than alot of the Pumpkins older videos. It was very Philip K. Dick-ian, if you know what I mean.

TEITBITE goes down in history as the band's worst video, though. The song itself is truly epic, but the video (or, all videos that tie in with movies in some way) makes me grit my teeth.

I'm 100% certain that Superchrist's video will be directed by P.R. Brown. There's no way around it - the man's a menace.

I am sorry I just don't like the "Walking Shade"video and every time I hear the song now, I get more annoyed, probably thinking of the video. I think the most annoying thing is the part with Billy wearing goggles and all that. It has olde thyme feel, but in a bad way. I can't believe they put that shot on some of the Billy Corgan solo tour t-shirts. Suffice it to say, I didn't buy any of the shirts for that tour.

Yeah I would have preferred "Mina Loy" as a single as well. Back in 2005, I was talking to a colleague that works at Metro (a talent buyer), that Billy was apparently given an ultimatum. He wanted to make a video and single for a song on the album, while Reprise wanted him to release a single for a different song. If he didn't go with their recommendation, they would not push the album. And considering that the album wasn't promoted very well, I am guessing that "Walking Shade" was Billy's choice.

Given that Billy performed "Mina Loy" on Letterman, not "Walking Shade", my guess would be that "Mina Loy" is the song that Reprise wanted as the single. And if that was the case, I think the record company was right in this case. "Mina Loy" is more radio friendly, and personally I feel its one of the best songs on TheFutureEmbrace.

Billy has probably rarely followed record company advice, but the one time he did previously it worked out fine. He wanted "Jellybelly" to be the first single off of Mellon Collie, but Virgin Records wanted "Bullet With Butterfly Wings". "Bullet" became a big hit, so good call by Virgin in that case

get over it, man....billy is a christian...why is that a problem for some people? in your eyes, is he not allowed to sing about things that he believes in?

I recall the band saying "Try, Try, Try" video was basically an attempt at social commentary, because they basically knew it was their last video. But yeah I am not a big fan of it either. There were some cool shots, but overall it just shows us how dark and disturbed, Jonas Akerlund's mind is. He did a little bit better with "The Everlasting Gaze" but that was more of a performance video.

i hope superchrist finds its way onto itunes im canadian and have no way of getting to a guitar ceneter

I am Canadian too, although I am in Chicago right now for school. I don't know where the nearest Guitar Center is in Chicago, or if there is one in Chicago. I could care less because I am not a fan of "Superchrist" but if I find a Guitar Center, I'll let you know.

that's interesting about how reprise wanted mina loy, i did as well, especially since it was released on itunes early as a single. but yea, superchrist is just on the horizon.
