Damn. Reaaaallly dissappointed. The AOL session is soooo much better. Actually, it's perfect sound quality, so I don't know why anyone would choose this new version over it. The only possible redeeming factor of this new version was that new weird violin part...when it first came in, I had kind of a mellon collie feeling. Besides that, it lacked energy in every instrument, including vocals. I didn't like the seeds in the video either. It wouldn't of been a horrible idea, just that they focused on one person for about 80% of the video. Boring. Also, why go to all the trouble of getting the seeds to be the extra instruments when jeffy and gingy would have done much better, imo.

It's clear to me they have no intention in letting Ginger or Jeff be a part of this band. I'm starting to agree with the purists that feel the SP name has been tarnished. This stuff is a.) bollocks and b.) unnecessary.

This video is pathetic beyond pathetic. Corgan is further distancing any identity of a band he wants to make.

i like the way of shooting a video like all that real-time-fake things like cloverfield and blairwitch. why not - BUT using it this way for a song who... i don't know, superchrist is okay live. it rocks. but i wouldn't put that on an album. maybe it's a b-side and it's just a bad copy of songs like X.Y.U. - less creative.

it's a typical bc/jc thing. not showing the members of the band, not even having a concept. i thought it'd be dark and crazy like zero.

I always thought this song was just ok, and highly overrated. But the song is leagues better than this video. Even though I was not too keen on the "Tarantula" video (I liked the contest winner version better), I think that video is WAY better than this. And I actually kind of like the "That's the Way" video.

Here some more thoughts on the video. I had posted about this so many times, that I am just going to reproduce my thoughts from Blamo lol.

It's understandable that since this video was for Myspace release only, they used a shoestring budget. But what they did with that budget is not impressive at all. Some people over at the Myspace page are saying it's brilliant and great, and can't understand why others don't like it. They think it's because its different. Well there is a difference between good different and bad different, and I feel like this is 'bad different.'

I think that the director probably had some ideas kicking around his head for the video, but could not think up a cohesive concept for the video. So he just took all those thought fragments, mashed them together, and threw them onto the screen. Then Billy and Jimmy were probably like "good enough" and that was the end of it.

I almost think they were attempting at times to make some social commentary, but failing short. Billy apparently has a love/hate relationship with LA these days. But I mean many of the people they criticize/critique these days, they also associated with and say are "good people." I think the band should probably moved back to Chicago to get their heads screwed on straight again. As much as they dislike the negative aspects of LA, I think they are influencing them in a way they may not realize.

i thought there are some "updated" new versions of the ZERO shirt - with a zeitgeist look (looks a bit like NIN font of the year zero remix thing)



and hell yeah i don't understand why billy (i mean, it's THE billy corgan) seems satisfied with that video. he used to be controlling everything and putting everything up to at least 200% of quality, right?

I realy dont get what billy is thinking with zeitgeist, everything seems to be sub par at best (with the exception of the wonderfull gossamer). I saw in an interview that billy has decided not to spend nearly as much time on b sides as he used to, so he could concentrate on the main album songs.

I dont get it, if someone told him to do that before he would have told them to fornicate with themselves, and yet, here we are at the reunion of THE smashing pumpkins and its like billy is chipping away everything that used to set the band apart and make it a great project.

People got angry at billy for taking so much control and being "egotistical" etc, but id personaly much prefer a control freak to a "yeah that'll do" kind of person.

I just hope they can one day regroup and figure out what is realy important and go do that, i just realy dont "get" it. Maybe somewhere down the track i will get it and think "OOOOHHHHH, i get it, zeitgeist was supposed to suck! that was the whole point!"

I just hope they arent completely horrible live, because this is a band that means more to me that just a couple of songs, for a long time they were pretty much all i had in my life that was good, and now i just hope that hasnt completely gone.

I dont want them to put out the same album over and over, i want something different, but like Eye said before, i want good-different, not bad-different.

Hahaha, fogot what i was suposed to be talking about for a while- the video sucks, all the videos from the zeitgeist era have been crap. Ever their worst video pre-breakup was 1000000 times better than the best one from the last 12 months

i won't lie, this is a bit dissapointing and I'm to usually stick up for the Pumpkins, especially during this Zeitgeist Era where it seems to have everyone pissed or everyone overly joyed. I agree dougy, Mr. Corgan seems to keep chipping away at the "gradiose" that was the Pumpkins and made them a mythical band. I guess we know what the bottom looks like for the Pumpkins. Now it's time to turn it around from here on out.

OK, here's how I see it.

By the standards of creating artistic an unique music videos, this video is lame. But, those days are gone. MTV doesn't even play videos anymore, and music videos are no longer a mens of not only pushing record sales but making an artistic statement. They are just a formality now.

The recording, mastering, and producing of this song had to be done before the video was done, and the whole thing was done in a very short period of time while the band was taking a break between tours. It's not like they had the time to storyboard, cast, and produce another "Tonight, Tonight."

This is not a slap in the face to Jeff or Ginger. I don't get why people are surprised they're not in the video. It was clearly stated through their blogs that they both went home during the layover and were not in studio with Billy or Jimmy while they worked on this song.

I think this is basically Billy and/or Jimmy going "Hey...we should make a video during this break." and the other one going "OK, sounds good to me. Let's see if the seeds wanna play along." It's a product of boredom, and it should be taken at face value.

All that being said, I really don't get why the old bassist dude was the center of attention for most of it....and I don't get why the "sexy nurses" just freaking stood there.....but hey...whatever. I don't think there was supposed to be any profound statement about anything with this video. As for the song, it all sounds good except the violin part. Very random, very forced, and it doesn't fit into the song at all.

Jeff/Ginger/Lisa were in the other Zeitgeist videos, and they had no part in recording those songs. I would have to think they played at least a small part in shaping Superchrist into what it is today. The Seeds however did nothing for the song and were just a distraction. Take the Seed out of the video and it would be 100% better.
