Machina would be much further up if it was more consistently grand and great, like MCIS or Adore was, 'cause it has some GREAT songs on it, (AoI is one of my favorites EVER) but some let it down a little..

i'm confused as to why anyone would consider judas o, the aeroplane flies higher, or pisces iscariot a new 'era' of pumpkins music. it would be like suggesting american gothic or zero is it's own era. doesn't make sense...

I don’t really have a list of the definite best pumpkin album line up. It’s so hard to say witch one is the best (I think every one has something great about them) even Zwan!!!

I agree, Pisces Iscariot is basically a mix of two other eras. I don't understand why people don't call it an album though. It's a collection of recordings. That's all an album is by definition. I always include it in my album rankings.

For some reason PI has a cohesiveness the resembles an album. Maybe it was just that time of the band, but it really seems to work well. I like it...a lot. The Pumpkins are masters of the b-side.

Oopsy doodle, didn't realize we were basing our selections on "era" ratings rather than "albums."
I definitely agree that PI (and TAFH, to an extent) has the cohesiveness of a true album, so I therefore count it. Hell, PI is way more cohesive than Zeitgeist in my opinion.
SP will always be the reigning champions of the b-side (with Belle & Sebastian a close second. Go do yourselves a favor and pick up "Push Barman to Open Old Wounds."  The best songs of the Zeitgeist are the b-sides. |
