haha, me too. what's wrong with discussions on this video? only because some people REALLY DON'T LIKE IT doesn't mean that they should be ignored. if I say I don't like the video then I mean that and that's my personal opinion - nothing else.

I agree, it's not like we are all indiscriminately bashed everything Pumpkins. In fact, that only things I truly dislike about the Zeitgeist era are the choice of photos in the liner notes for Zeitgeist (Paris Hilton, Death, etc) and the Superchrist video. And I am not that big on "Pomp and Circumstances" or "Superchrist" as songs.

If we didn't "care," none of us would be posting here! Caring doesn't mean groveling, or even liking what we're hearing. Caring, for fans, is unconditional. We might not agree with what they're doing now, and some of might not agree on which albums are the brilliant ones, whether James and D'Arcy or Jeff and Ginger rock harder, etc. We still love the band, be it not since the initial breakup, or be it that Zeitgeist made us love them more.

I think what you might be concerned about is the band's relevancy. And in that manner, SP will NEVER be as relevant as they were in the 90s, just as The Police or Genesis, despite popular reunion tours, aren't as big now as they were in the 70s/80s.

SP will never fade into full-out obscurity, don't worry.

That said, I haven't seen this video yet, nor have I ever heard the song (well, they might have played it at the shows I went to, but I mentally tune out the jam sessions. As someone already mentioned here, those "masturbatory" guitar riffs bother me to no end.)

Eh, I'm not that concerned with relevancy, because I loved the band even during Machina, when it was apparent the band was disintegrating.

I'm just worried if it's even a band, anymore. I just am insulted he's trying to sell us on Ginger and Jeff, even Lisa, by having us read their blogs and cheering for them at live shows, and then there's no inclusion of them at all in this stuff.

Granted, it was break and Jeff and Ginger were with family, but it makes me concerned for the band in the future. I really feel that they need some outside influence other than Corgan. Considering JC is purely drums and nothing else, this is all Corgan and the songs feel that way... which even if they did that over the past years, it never felt that way before to me.

The song is ok, but whithout keyboard is less deep and powerful.
And a video whit two guests instead of three members of the band is not a good thing.

After appearing in the album artwork for Zeitgeist last summer, I was asked to be a part of the Smashing Pumpkins new music video Superchrist! The video debuts tomorrow February 27th, on the Pumpkins website. Superchrist will be part of an exclusive compilation CD available only at Guitar Center outlets March 1st. Exactly. It's as if we arn't allowed to have an opinion on the matter because we are the "die-hard" fans who are supposed to love EVERY SINGLE THING they release.

This is the new Pumpkins we are talking about here, it's a lot different from the old pumpkins, and the "Zeitgeist" of the newer fans seem to support me on this one...

Challenges will either allow you to deeper your understanding and expand/alter your views or they will reasert what you originally believed. The internet will always be full of haters, but that's what keeps a balance.

I though the song was a lot better when I listened to it without the video and Ive come to appreciate the video. The seemingly rushed sporadic nature of production complements the clutterd feel of the song well but It's not incredible and yeah; keyboards would have made it better but Billy has made very clear the distinction he wants to make between studio pumpkins and live pumpkins. But, yeah; I dont get why he didnt include the rest of the band after the last 2 vids...

the song does seem a lot better without the video. The first time i watched/listened i was kind of turned off the song by the obscurity and silliness of the video. Listening to the song (which is what i care about more than any video) a second time through, it didn't seem so bad. However, this studio version doesn't hold a candle to the AOL sessions version IMO.

OK, saw it. It's shite. Utter shite. My friends and I make better fake music videos than this. Was this made in an afternoon after guzzling some substance consisting of peyote and Drain-o in some leprous porn star's basement?

The song (if it can be called that) is in itself, a pretty ace jam. But it is a JAM, hardly worthy of justifying a 7-minute video. This would've been more appropriately placed on a new Pastichio Medley. And that violin isn't doing anyone any favors.

I'm a bit miffed, but seriously, Billy. If you want the fans' respect and adoration, quit defecating out these half-assed songs every few months and instead spend a good six months or so perfecting your art in the studio WITH YOUR NEW BAND MEMBERS (so your myopic egoism can be called out!) and show us what we all know you're capable of.

iTunes really destroyed the meticulous manner of creating classic records. Now all bands find it customary to put out middling EPs three times a year when they could be focusing on grand, beautiful records. Has no one patience for true art anymore? I mean, that Sistine Chapel wasn't painted in a day!

I think we should have a contest on this site to create the best alternative version of the Superchrist video. (Kind of like the SP.com thing for "Tarantula," but not restricted to green-screening around the already-taped footage.) Cos I know everyone here is capable of creating a representation of that song than the band did!

Like the live action Tarantula video, that was quite a different twist.
