why lose respect? i doubt billy is one to believe in evolution.

I think PistolPete is right. Although I have to admit something, and I am probably in the minority on this, I don't like Superchrist .

Like everything in the Zeitgeist era, it's grown on me. I didn't like it when it was first played at the SF residencies and really never gave it much of a chance until the AOL sessions. It's a bit repetitive. I wish there was at least a solo or something to give it more substance.

I think what most bugs me is the way he sings it. I haven't looked carefully at the lyrics, but for me I would rather have the music, than Billy go on a lyrical diatribe once again.

I liked it a lot better when Billy was talking about musical revolutions, rather than political ones. I don't have much love for the current administration in the US, but I don't like being pandered to.

With "Doomsday Clock", I like it so much musically, that like Radiohead (except Hail to the Thief, which I found boring musically as well), I can tune out their diatribes.

listening to the aol sessions again, i'm going to go with pistol pete. and the song is good, but gossamer is better.

dude, "doomsday clock" is not really a political statement. people assume it is, but it's not. there was an interview where billy talked about it....i wish i could remember where.

Quite a long post this, I do not mean to offend and I hope that its not deemed off topic.

Well I beleve in Evolution (not saying that the lyric is debunking it for certain but..),

Its funny because 'Faith' wise I say I have 'a mild sense of sprituality' IE I have a sense of faith that is there an energy/life force that is in/around all us that science is yet to see (no jokes about the force please ) and that when you die your soul moves to 'another place' and when I pass over Ill see all my departed relitives again.

BUT over all I beleve that organised religion is a blind biggoted thing (or a least large groups within are) with holy books with pages ensiting hate (if interprited the 'wrong' way).

Now the only reason I make these bold statments you may think it odd that I beleve Billy Corgan to be an absolute master of a song writer and one hell of person as he seems to be very much a Christian now (how ever I have heard he likes a mixed bag of religions).

Is it odd? of course not, everybody is entitled to there belefs (and of course the guy rocks) and if we were all the same the world would be boring.

So thats why I dont mind the lyric.

To be honest, I don't give a crap whether Billy believes in evolution or not!!

The only reason I would lose respect is if he forced these views on us, instead of expressing them, like he is.

And besides, we don't have the official lyrics yet, so we don't even know if he said "evolution is illusion" or "disillusion"

And even if it is "is illusion" who knows what he means by that?

He probably thought it just sounded nifty when he was writing it.

Superchrist is boring and repetitive. Gossamer is repetitive too, but much better.

The only good thing in Superchrist is the "dark angel" at the end of the video... worth to be in the booklet of Adore.

That's like saying you couldn't appreciate one of Mozart's symphonies just because of the time he grew up in. Why would something so trivial play such a large role in your perception of a man?

I do care about what Billy has to say in this song, but, unlike alot of people, I'm not going to take it so damned literally. Have some common sense, now. It's not as though Billy is advocating slicing up children in Disarm, is it?

I'm an agnostic, and I don't care whether somone belongs to a religious faith or not.
