This is Billy Corgan, and he's going to do things the way he wants. At the concert I went to recently, he said very plainly half way through: "We love you guys, we appreciate the support you've given us, but we're not going to kiss your ass." He's not going to kiss our ass. He did us a favor by coming back under the name "Smashing Pumpkins" and he's going to damn well do what he pleases.

However, this does not excuse this video. Just a complete waste of time. I know everyone's saying it's a joke and those who don't get it are dumb, but whatever. I get the video just fine, it just sucks. I don't understand how someone can laugh and smile while watching this video. And even if you did like it, how many more times can you really watch it? Bottom line is this should've never been made into a video in the first place, as mentioned above. AOL version eats this version alive. I love Zeitgeist and American Gothic (for the most part), but this was a complete let-down. However, it still remains that Billy could make a video of himself jacking off to animal porn set to "Ma Belle" or some shit and we'd still watch at least once.

That would be another challenge in itself, first you have to chop all the good bits (they mostly sound the same..) into something that actually sounds structurally good, then you have to make the sound bites flow...

For once, I really do not think that this is supposed to be taken seriously in any way shape or form. It is obvious that Billy and Jimmy have some affection for this song (they have played it live continuously and decided to release it over Gossamer), and I just think they wanted to get it out for a cool song.

As for the video, I'm sure their laughing thier asses off over the fact that people are trying so hard to decipher it. The video is obviously just for fun, as a matter of fact I would say it is The Smashing Pumpkins coolest video since Stand Inside Your Love. The videos for Try, Try, Try, Tarantula, and That's the Way just didn't do it for me; granted this is a little over the top, but still I think it is a step towards some creatvitiy in the music videos.

As for this whole studio vs. live thing, I am torn. Seeing Superchrist live with the light show, blasting sound, and Billy's paint-peeling scream had to be one of the highlihgts of my life, but I cannot deny that the tripiness of this new version is perfect. The opening reminds me of the song "A Saucerful of Secrets" by Pink Floyd.

I liked it.

Superchrist, both the song and the video, have a certain D.I.Y. Garage rock spirit that I enjoyed. Most people fail to realize that, for all intents and purposes, the Pumpkins are once again an indie act. Their videos have reflected this.

I wish people would stop expecting another multi-million Ava Adore, or something. Billy and Co. will work themselves back up to that point, eventually...assuming the reunion lasts. They're groping around in the dark for their new sound, and I think Superchrist (as well as Gossamer) are stepping stones along the way to their next album (their "second" album as a band).

I was quite surprised by the short, but sweet violin interlude. "Love's his thing", right? I'd say I like both the violin and the key parts equally.

It was nice to see Linda again, though I miss Jeff, Ginger, and Lisa. I don't think the Seeds really had any place in this video, personally, but I don't make it a matter of contention.

Overall, on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being Tarantula and 10 being Stand Inside Your Love, I'd say this video rates a 3 or 4...somewhere around Cherub Rock.

A great song with a video that gives it justice, even if it doesn't deliver on it's hype.

OK, I'm officially fucking PISSED OFF!

Today is the day this Guitar Center compilation that they've been building up for weeks comes out and they wait till TODAY to post on the SP.com webiste that "we're getting reports" that not all stores have it and you should call to find out first. And of course, I call the only Guitar Center anywhere near me and they don't fucking have it.

why the fuck couldn't they tell us that not every store would have it from the beginning??????

So, considering that this compilation album was free, does anyone mind uploading the songs?

Album art would be awesome too, atleast the front cover.

don't count on that today....apparently NONE of these stores have it yet. I realize this whole thing is probably out of the band's hands and out of SP.com's hands, but this is really pretty absurd.

the Lexington, KY guitar center had absolutely no clue what I was even talking about when I called there this morning....couldn't answer my question as to when it might be coming in.

I called Cincinnati, OH (about 2 hours' drive from me) and they knew what I was asking for but did not have it and did not know when they would have it. I was told to order it through the website...I pointed out that guitar center.com and SP.com said it would be in the stores, and they acted surprised by that info. They did, however, take my name and number and tell me they'd call when they got it in.

I called Florence, KY (about an hour and a half drive) and they too knew what I was talking about but also did not have it. They did tell me it would be FREE (the only consolation I'm getting right now) and that they thought they'd have it by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. They also took my number and told me they'd call when it comes in.

Luckily, I have a good friend who lives near both those stores and can go get it for me when it comes in, but honestly folks....why were we told it would be released today if apparently NONE of the actual stores were going to have it? Has ANYBODY had any luck finding this thing today?

This is extremely frustrating and very disappointing that guitar center couldn't manage to execute this promotion any better.

yeah dude, i went to the guitar center in rockville, md and they didn't have it either. the only thing they had was "fresh cuts vol. 1" which they had just gotten today. they acted like they didn't know what it was either... uggghh...

I am not sure what they got the info, but the San Antonio Smashing Pumpkins Fans page on myspace found out that the release date is actually going to March 11th, not March 1st.

Chopping it up could get even messier.

What if we did just make your own video for any zeitgeist song?

I think that would be a fun contest. long as people would participate.

Are you talking about the girl in the Zeigeist Album artwork? Because there's videos from oprah or something where she's interviewed because she's such a young porn star.
