HOLY SHIT.

I just watched the video for Heavy Metal Machine from the AOL sessions, a song that I always thought was okay, and my mind has BLOWN.

I'm suddenly VERY optimistic about the next Pumpkins album!

What songs post-Zeitgeist made you sit up and think "DAMN the next album is gonna be HOT SHIT"?

Parts of the American Gothic EP and any Gossamer :P

Now imagine if they put in a couple of electric songs and took away the Billy-choir parts of the others.

PERFECT.

I think that if they can write songs like they did for their Residencies in a day or two, what they could do over a purely writing session period of a month or two would be quite something ... especially if they stay in the kind of feel of Gossamer, The Residency Songs and American Gothic.

A little more experimental writing would be nice too, instead of your straight up ballad with a Pumpkins twist.

But to answer your question, songs like 99 Floors, Question Mark and The Rose March make me go "Wow, whats the next album gonna be like?" ... and I'm Doing The Best I Can just brings a smile to my face

superchrist is okay. the video was lame. but the song isn't too shabby.
and i just bought the hard copy of American Gothic a couple of weeks ago. have you guys seen the artwork? it's pretty cool!!

My view exactly as well! I really don't like Superchrist ... it is as a bad example of what the Pumpkins are truly capable, Gossamer or The Rose March for example are master-pieces

I agree on the new Heavy Metal Machine and Superchrist fronts. I also don't care for the new full band version of "Daydream". They have to realize one day the "Stellar" effect doesn't work with everything .

I like "Rose March" for some reason I am really hooked on "Sunkissed" now. At first it reminded of Zwan, well the first few seconds of the song especially. I guess the way he was singing the lyrics or something.

Don't forget "Pox" and "Ma Belle", those are definitly
100% The Smashing Pumpkins...maybe the next album will be a mixture thing like Mellon Collie..that would be great!

ma belle isnt post zeitgeist, just was released later, it was recorded during zeitgeist sessions, coming from the blackboard, also, gossamer is not post zeitgeist either! remeber the whiteboard?!?!?!??

Yeah but it sounds like Billy and Jimmy really like working with Roy Thomas Baker. So my solution is that they work with both Flood and Roy Thomas Baker, and where Flood, maybe Brad Wood will even pop up lol.

What I'm hoping for in the next album is that physcadelic sound that Siamese Dream had. Where there were a whole bunch of weird sounds and echos and effects that I've never heard before.

And of course that Billy will get his old voice back.

well, ever since billy said the next album was going to be similar to mcis or siamse dream with the idea of a 2-3 year process i was pretty stoked. we'll see what they do.

Well, for me.. and i'm a pumpkins/billy fan I have never really heard a Bad song besides, Superchrist from the pumpkins. Zeitgeist had a very interesting take on it. I pre-ordered the album before it came and i still listen to it, I'm still trying to get used to it. The choir-billy's (don't know about that) And before anyone starts saying that it's in all the albums. Yes i know that. I have 4 copies of every album release and a portable 60gb harddrive that contains almost everything released from Billy including His solo shit and Zwan. but, it's a little tooooo much on zeitgeist and American Gothic. But i'm stoked for another album. I hope there will be some more acoustic stuff (which i love) A i do enjoy how the pre-zeitgeist era music has a Huge change it in for the good! for example: Rotten Apples, Glass and the Ghost children, wound, Disarm, Shame. Great changes. I hope the New album is more a mix Demos of 88, Gish, Mellon Collie, Zeitgeist. now that would be a corgasm!

In late February 2008 it was reported at Sigur Rós' official site that the band, together with producer Flood, has recorded the foundation of the forthcoming album. Out of the 11 songs recorded, whose titles still remain unknown, one was played for a small audience during the closing party of Reykjavík venue Sirkus. The album is expected to be released sometime during late spring/early summer.
