Billy's going through a midlife crisis, it seems! So desperate to appear young, hip and cool. I guess Jimmy's not doing him any image favors since Jim's a husband and dad now.

Billy, you've never been cool, nor will you ever be. And that's why we love you. Nobody's impressed by the porn stars you call friends. That's never mattered to us. Besides, you're taking the irony of Zeitgeist way too far by associating with those kinds of people. Perhaps they are nice once you get to know them but ... man, don't you have any friends your own age?

I gues what bothers me most about the new smashing pumpkins is that it isnt "dangerous", in billy's own words, he intended the band to always be a dangerous band, now it seems they are just another rock band, part of a crowd of rock band, with nothing particulaly unique, and thats what realy irritates me, even if the music sucked i wouldnt mind too much, but billy doesnt seem to be trying very hard to be different, dangerous and challenging

i also think billy tries to handle the things how they are today. he's impressed by myspace and the way you can show music to thousands of people. that's why he did that superchrist thing.

of course older pumpkins fans are dillusionated because he never did something like this. and it feels cheap, yeah. that's right.

i guess he lost his anger and sadness he had earlier in his life. he was a twen back then at siamese dream and mellon collie. now he's in the middle of a midlife crisis (you're right, trillian)...

Speaking of "anger and sadness" at one of the shows I went to at The Fillmore Billy goes:
"Thank you! We are the Smashing Pumpkins."
Then in sarcasm Billy says, "I'm still "angry," I'm still "mad" for being named Billy." Then someone screams "WILLIAM!" and Billy goes, "Oh well yeah, William. You should know, you were there when it happened."

Yeah I guess Billy never learned the phrase "everything in moderation". Let's make a satire, but that's completely embrace everything we are satirizing. If he was an actor, it seems he would be a method actor.

The old billy could satirise bad music without making his own music bad, why does he have to do that now?
