How do you all feel about this song? My personal opinion is that it would have been better if Billy cut out the second part about "...as she counted the spiders...". However, I'm listening to the song live from the United Center, and I LOVE the piano on the song. I think the studio version would have been better if it had piano on it. Thoughts?

It's perfect like it is.

That being said, I always have enjoyed the different arrangements they've done with it live.

It's probably one of my favorite songs on Machina.
Especially the second half.

I've always liked the song, particularly Jimmy's drumming leading up to the interlude. Plus the live version played in late 2000 with the extra lyrics toward the end is awesome.

It's weird and epic. I approve.

Also, I think it inspired some My Chemical Romance song off their last record. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It seems they ripped the "therapy session" audio idea! Gerard mutters something about tremors as the music slows and the tape even rewinds as it does on Glass!

That's 'cause MCR are a fucking rip-off.

I haven't heard the song enough to know it well enough, all that I can remember for now is that the first half reminds me of Public Image Ltd., the middle part is Le Deux Machina, and the last part is quiet...

Next time I listen to that album, I'll pay good attention to that song.

Or songs.

Come on, it's not one song, its two songs on one track.

Yeah, I still think they shoulda just cut the last part... Or at least take out the part where Billy is just talking about God and stuff, and put more in there instead. I don't know, I'm not saying I don't like the song, but I was just thinking........

It took me a while to fully apreciate that song but now i love it. the endings the best part though! "and she couted the spiders as they crawled up inside her" - brilliant. Check out some of the acoustic versions they did in 2000 though; they're also brilliant.

when the song reaches a sort of chorus where he goes "all i want to try" that part always gives me chills

Really? for me it's the exact opposite. I prefer the second half of the song where Billy starts talking on the tape rather than the first half.

Just been past this song a couple times on my Ultimate Machina playlist, and I'm now very much liking this song.

I still think it's a bit weird as it is really TWO SONGS on one track, that don't exactly flow into each other, not like Thru the Eyes of Ruby, or Porcelina.

I keep on thinking that the first half is going to be much longer, 'cause it reminds me a LOT of Gossamer, and then it fades out, and Billy (or someone starts jabbering on about something..)

Yeah, I like that song too. Its a little different though. I also really like the acoustic version on the Machina Acoustic Demos.

I think it is Billy talking at the end. It almost sounds like some interview or something thats been distorted. Every time I hear the song I always find myself trying to figure what he is saying.

I'm not sure what it is. It just sounds like one to me, because of what he is talking about. It just sounds like he is talking about himself and the band like he was being questioned. Who knows though, as I'm not sure he has ever said.

It's one of my favourite Machina I songs. And the counting the spiders bit is the part I like best about it. I'd count it as one song. Otherwise you'd have to say a lot of songs are really two or more songs
