This interview has honestly removed a lot of doubts I had about what the pumpkins were doing in respect to dropping labels etc. It really is an exciting time and as always Billy was great in explaining whats going on. He has been clearly thinking about this for a long time and to finally be free sugests hes gonna start blazing all guns. It explains the annoyances of the zeitgeist release and sets up a lot of hope for the future.
My only issue is not with the pumpkins specifically but with the music industry... I mean, if all these bands are getting rid of labels and as Billy said, the industry is practically now lead by things like myspace, then isnt this just gonna produce bands produced solely on popuarity rather than talent. Also, with less albums, recordings etc - wont this place a far greater value on live music as a means of distributing music to people? - its all very interesting....

I hate the music scene today. MTV doesn't play music any more unless it's rap or some flamer band, like Shame said, the industry is mostly lead by things like myspace, with new iPods and technology people select one or two songs they heard from a radio station and plop it on there iPod without ever getting to know the band or buying a complete album, etc.
It really bums me out.
I wish I was old enought in the 90s to appreciate the music.

You're probably right. As far as radio singles go, I think That's The Way may be their last. However, I think we can still expect alot more singles along the same vein as Superchrist.

that's kind of what I was thinking...but also, it's pretty soon for them to be spitting out new singles. I guess they aren't putting out new albums anymore in the same sense as old SP, but they usually had 2-3 years between albums back then, whereas Zeitgeist isn't even a year old yet.
